Poster: A snowHead
|
Hello everyone. I'm new here and had a couple questions about Rx inserts with Oakley goggles. I did a search on the forum first to try not to waste anyone's time but couldn't find an answer. Dr. Google didn't seem to help either. He just let me here.
I know that Rudy Project, Bolle, Smith and other make specific Rx inserts for their goggles and there are even some Universal Rx adaptors out on the market but I was wondering if anyone had any experience with Rx adaptors and Oakley? I was issued an ESS URx adaptor that works in the Oakley Ballistic goggle but was wondering if they worked in any other Oakley goggle.
Thanks in advance.

I've recently purchased Bolle RX inserts, which fit perfectly in Oakley Stockholm goggles. If you have a shop nearby that sells goggles, you could take the inserts with you and try them in the various goggle models.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

cherryhead25, I've bought Bolle inserts (and other items) from them, they are good and I doubt you'll find them cheaper. Their main site is spex4less.com

Yes, those are the ones. I bought mine from RX Sports because they offer anti-fog lenses.

IMHO there is no such thing as an anti-fog lens.
If you go back about 1 week you will find a thread I posted about alternatives to contact lenses incl Rudy Project inserts. I also did some more internet research on inserts and found that the general consensus is that they are prone to fogging and tunnel vision. I stuck with contacts and ordered a new pair.

I've used Oakley lenses with anti-fog coating for 5 seasons and they've only fogged up once (after poling along a valley track for two bloody kilometres in warm, spring conditions). So, in my experience, the Oakley anti-fog coating works in all but extreme conditions.
I have no idea how effective the anti-fog technology is on the inserts, I'm only heading out to Chamonix in two weeks time, where I'll get to put the inserts through their paces.
