First and foremost merry Xmas to you all, having a nice and tantrum free day I hope.
Anyway, still in a boot dilemma! Where to get them in Leeds, in EB at xscape there's not muc choice, and glide n slide in otley is extortionate. So does anyone know of any boot fitters in Leeds area????!

This far into the season choice is going to be getting limited anyway and a good fitter will tell you if they don't have a boot to suit you. www.rivingtonalpine.co.uk/ in Chorley is probably your next nearest option

Slight hyperbole perhaps, though they are charging 20£-40£ more than EB for some boots. Neither being on sale. Just my opinion calm down

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

davkt, I was afraid you'd say that. Maybe a better idea to get them when I'm on the slopes maybe. Maybe not.

You'll spend that driving to the next shop! They will sell you the boots that fit, not the most expensive. These may be a cheaper pair, or maybe not.

There used to be a great shop in Yeadon - but not sure whether it's still there as I haven 't lived there for a while. I think it was called 'the great outdoors'. Severn Sports went bust last spring but I haven't taken their website down so we has a wasted trip looking for ski trousers last month.

I'd really give http://www.glideslide.co.uk/ a chance. If you get the wrong fitting and you are in agony on the slopes, you'd happily hand out £100 to fix the problem there and then.

Pi, I would go to glide and slide. What you would spend on fuel trekking about is 30 or 40 quid off straight away. They have a good reputation, and who knows, being a smaller shop a little haggling may be worth trying. From experiences of people I know EB's ski fitting service can be a bit hit and miss. My OH got her current boots in Les Arcs. It was good service etc, but it cost about the same as in the UK. I'd rather have a local(-ish) shop than a faceless chain store. Use it or lose it.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Pi, Without a shadow of a doubt go to Glide and Slide in Otley. 10 minutes from leeds, park outside the door, got the best perfectionist boot-fitter I've ever met in 30-odd years of skiing. Steven at Glide and Slide spends time/patience/experience getting the art of boot fitting to "artisan" level. BTW, as the sole UK importer/distrubutor of Strolz boots, he has the craft for custom booting!

I live in B'hope so it's literally 2mins in the car at glide and slide. I will endeavour to have a look in store, as perhaps it was just the 3/4 pairs I was looking at that were on the expensive side. Plus I got fully kitted out there once upon a time.
I had never heard of backcountry in Ilkley, thought it was just an internet side.
I had heard of 'the great outdoors' never got a chance to go:(

You know it makes sense.

Get the boot fitter to do his job, that's the only way you'll know which boot be it the cheapest, most expensive or somewhere in-between you will need!

Another vote for Backcountry - particularly if you're after touring/ski mountaineering stuff. Have heard goid things about G 'n' S as well.

Glide and Slide are considered the best around this area. They are really good and I would be happy to pay the price for good boots when you think that it is only the cost a of a pizza lunch whilst skiing and you should get many years of ski comfort and performance out of pair of good boots. They have fantastic after sales back up if there are any problems which I know from experience!
