Hi all,
Off to Tignes (val claret) this year, skiing from 19th to 24th . First time in the espacy killy and i have a few questions if people would kindly offer some suggestions to.
I've skied since young (now 21) but im going with a mate whose only done 1 week. Can anyone recommend some good blue/red runs in the area? (good long runs to keep me interested but wide enough so my friend can improve and get up to speed a bit).
Were in self catered accommodation so will probably do breakfast and evenings meals ourselves but what can we expect price wise for a small snacks (burger and chips etc) on the mountain?
What sort of prices can we expect for pints?
Any runs to avoid at certain times of day? (conditions or busy)
Off topic but can anyone recommend a good pair of mitts?

jacknottm, Genepy down from the top of the funicular back into VC is a lovely blue. It's quiet as most people go for the over-rated honey-pot of Double M, and has lots of interesting twists and turns and variations in gradient.

Make sure your mate can ski with confidence first by going up and down the free lift by the Tavern de Niege, than as Red 27 suggests go up the fenicular across the way and come down Genepy, its probably the most interesting run in the valley & it will boost his confidence

There are lots of easy cruising runs out of and back to Val Claret There is a huge area of mainly green runs between Tignes and Val D that will keep a beginner occupied for ages.
Eating out is the usual sort of prices, 12-13 Euro for a pizza, 20 Euro for a steak etc. You can reduce drink costs by sticking to happy hours, large beer was 3-4 Euro., normal price around 6-8. If you want a seriously expensive drink try Grizzley, 10 Euro per pint and 76 Euro for wood grilled Cotes du beouf (but its very very nice  )

Genepy is a great motorway wide run, really nice cruising run.
Other routes include Tichot then Grattalu Chairs up to the peak, then ride either Signal or Grattalu back to Carline and Val C. You can get over to La Lac from the top of Grattalu by taking Piste du Lac, up on Grand Huit, then blues either down to La Lac , or even go up Aiguille Percee and ski all the way down to Les Brevieres (below the dam) on blues. All the villages are served by the free bus, so you can get back that way if you need to.
If you have a 3 Valleys pass, head over to Val D using the Fresse chair and you have all the green runs to enjoy. Try and avoid Santons blue at busy times as it is a narrow intimidating run for a novice, and it is the 'easiest' run into Val 1850 (alternatively get the Olympique gondola down). From Val, go up to Solaise and over Laissieres Express to access the Ski d'Ete area then you can get down to Le Fornet on blues.
Almost forgot the Grande Motte glacier above Val C, great wide reds, superb views, and return via Genepy or Double M.
Food wise, Val D is more expensive than Tignes generally, but La Follie Douce (above La Daille) has to be experienced. There are numerous shops in Val Claret to grab a slice of pizza or a baguette. In La Lac, the Spar on the Front du'Neige (by the Palafour lift) has great value specials and baguettes, there's also a pizza/crepe kiosk on the corner which is decent.
Have a great time and leave some snow for us, we're out the week after.

DrLawn speaks the truth! We skied Genepy together on the PSB and it was a delightful run.
