Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi folks,

Off to Arc 2000, one non skier with us, trying to work out if they can get to the Varet 40 bubble at Arc 1950, not clear on the piste map, looks like there is a bubble from 2000 down to 1950 but can you walk from that to the Varet 40 bubble to go up the mountain??

TIA

I think the Varet bubble is walkable from 2000 and 1950 is below it - I think we got to it from 1950 (on skis) by going up the Marmottes chair

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

pedestrians do take the varet telecabine and the aguille rouge telepherique to the top of the aguille rouge to look at the view. Normally you would walk from Arc2000 to the bottom of the varet. It would be a bit of a slog up from Arc1950.

BTW what does the "40" mean?

johnE, all the lifts are numbered as well as having names - Varet is 40

You can certainly walk from Arc 2000 to Varet to go up Aguille Rouge, sure if possible from 1950, but never done it. From 2000 will involve walking on edge of a piste, so take suitable shoes!

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I looked at this today, from the top of the Gondola up from 1950 it is a short walk to the Varet lift in suitable footwear. The snow was falling heavily and I had to pole some of the way from that Gondola to the top of the blue run back to 1950 which is just by the Varet lift.

Just to confirm, it is walkable to the Varet from 2000; but be aware that you have to walk along/across a narrow bit of piste for 100m - 200m to get there.
