It is good to see so much support for Emily Sarsfield as she battles to regain he place at the Olympics. ITV News last night, Talksport Radio, Ski Sunday and a massive petition.
There are actually 4 freestyle skiers who earned quota spots but didn't make TeamGB
Ski Cross: 34th Emily Sarsfield , 41st Pam Thorburn
Aerials: 29th Lloyd Wallace, 30th Harry Gillam
You can see on Wikipedia the strikethroughs for Great Britain, and the bold for countries who did accept handback spots.

So if these guys skied for Canada, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Russia, Brazil, Thailand or Jamaica they would be competing in Sochi.

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

They wouldn't be skiing for Canada. Some very good people didn't get spaces in skier cross who rank above them.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Right, but Canada do not have a policy to reject these 'handback' spots, like BOA do. Canada took a handback spot in women's slopestyle.
BOA/BSS confirmed that Emily had met the qualification standard based on results and times. She met the FIS standard. She earned one of just 32 quota spots. The only reason they didn't select her was because they decided in advance not to accept any handback sport, whatever the circumstance. Almost every other county do take them.
Emily's petition has reached nearly 7000 and will be presented to BOA this week.

walterr, I don't disagree that Emily should have a space, have signed the petition and also emailed BSS and BOA (obviously no response). But if she was canadian she wouldn't have space, so I was just correcting.
Its not just a great shame for Emily that she can't go; its a great shame for all british young and aspiring skiers, both those living in UK and outside UK; I think it comes down to definition of credible performance and that is maybe what I would be pushing for. By my definition finishing in the top 32 at the olympics is a credible performance and she's guaranteed that. Then of course there is a chance she could do better. I saw her do better at nakiska this year.
I think this decision is pretty damaging for wintersports as a whole and I think BSS/BOA underestimate the impact and do not seem to grasp the importance of race starts; without them no credible performances are possible
