Ok I can get direct flights on the same dates for the same Price to either Calgary or Denver.
Where would you head for a couple of weeks, maybe three, in Jan if you were a red run fan, with the odd black thrown in?
Did Whistler last year, loved it but crazy busy every weekend, any advice on where to go? Or is anyone else already heading that way?
Cheers

 Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Just to add, it's direct flights BA to Denver, Air Canada to Calgary, both £729 out of Heathrow.
I've compared lift passes, car hire and general ski in ski out hotel costs and very little difference, so it's just down to location, location, location!
Any guidance welcome.
Cheers

jph123, not guidance really, as I haven't been to either, we just booked to Colorado, did our own flights but with the accommodation, transfer and lift passes through Ski Independence, worked out cheaper, good deal on Lift passes, worth checking out.

jph123, Canadianaffair.com LGW- Calgary - as little as £550 with free ski carriage in Jan - much less hassle than travelling through a TSA airport!

I would suggest you fly to Denver then head for a Place called Frisco , about an hour from Denver , loads of shuttles from the airport .
Frisco is surrounded by about 5 ski areas and is the skibus hub, 5 miles to Copper Mountain , 5 miles to Breckenridge , about the same to Keystone , about the same to the A Basin and Vail and Beaver Creek are a 10 mile bus ride along the highway .
The free ski bus goes to the local ski areas so you have a choice of 4 ski areas each day , you can even grab the bus and ski Keystone at night .
Have fun !

hi there. You could consider marmot basin in jasper. Ideal resort for the skiing you are requesting. Did my instructor training there and it is a resort with masses of varied terrain, along with sociable night life, local cinema, etc etc. Canadian affair is your best bet. You can also buy your lift passes in advance using the marmot card. (look on the marmot basin website. Im currently considering going for two weeks starting the 1st feb, with maybe one week at marmot, then moving on to sunshine/lakelouise. Was going to hire a car as that allows plenty of flexibility. Just noticed you have booked!! Good choice for next year maybe. I am looking for a travel buddy also. I'm 32 years old (married nearly!), but my fiancee cant go. Love skiing - first lift up, last run down. I have my CSIA level 2 and so would be happy to do a bit of coaching if anyone wishes. Like socialising , but not a party animal by all means. Would possibly consider europe. Please get in touch if anyone is interested

Agree with Awent, Denver would give you a lot more options close by, whereas Calgary is a bit more distant from the other resort areas such as Banff, Lake Louise and Sunshine. As for Marmot Basin (Jasper), it's a lovely resort with a fantastic scenic drive to get to it via the Icefield Parkway (did it myself in 2011), but it's a good 4 hour + car journey from Calgary.
