Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Remoulding my boots?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hey guys. I was wanting to get my ski boots remoulded for my trip in jan. I have not been since last year.

The reason I wanted to do this is that in the past year I have lost a lot of fat on my calfs so my legs are a fairly different shape.

Would anyone recommend this or should I just let them remould themselves when i go skiing.

Have some atom ski boots that are about 1 year old.

If you are talking about liners, check first if they are heat moldable at all. If they are, you can do it yourself pretty easy. Stick them into oven, some 70-80C, leave them in for 8-10mins, take them out put into boots and get yourself into boots, and leave boots on (clipped of course) for some 20-30mins. Only thing you need to take care is that you have oven, which can be heated with blowing hot air only (no idea what's proper English word for this), as grill is definitely not right way to do unless you want nice and crispy baked liners. And put liners to wooden plate not straight on oven's bottom.
If you are talking about shell, then it's not something I would recommend doing on your own, if you never did this before. At least not starting on boots you are going to ski with Wink

Sainter, after the liner has been skied remolding it will make very little difference at all, most of the moldable foam is around the ankle areas etc rather than in the calf

you might need to move the buckle tooth plates on the upper clips to allow you to tighten the area, worth checking that before you go so you don't have to do it in the boot room while everyone else is waiting for you
