Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Confused...best chance for powder in mainland Japan late Feb

Now I know that the best chance for powder in late Feb is Hokkaido, but I'm only in Japan for a week so don't really have time to go there :/ So this leaves me with somewhere on the main island to choose.

Intuitively, I imagine the best chance of powder will be found the further north I go, and/or the higher altitude I go.

So now I'm a bit confused as to what would be better. Shiga Kogan has a lot of altitude but is not in the north at all. To maximise my chances of powder am I better off going further north? Should I go right up to the far North of the Tōhoku region like Amori? Or is Iwate likely to be as good or better? Is there somewhere else I should consider?

You could leave Tokyo / Osaka / Nagoya early in the morning and be skiing powder at Niseko late afternoon into the evening. There's extensive floodlight night skiing.

If that's not doable / Hokkaido's not getting the goods then most of the best resorts in Nagano and Niigata prefectures are only 3-4 hrs from Tokyo by train and bus.

Myoko Kogen seems to get a load of powder.
