Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Re Visit Soll Maybe - Are the Slopes Crowded in January

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Still deciding on our trip for January and starting to look at Soll - Question is what are the slopes like in January and how busy are they.?

We have skied Soll and Skiwelt area a number of times but always had to go in Feb half term bit of a busy time on the pistes to say the least - always had a pretty good time in Soll but the last time we went about 7 yrs ago the temperatures were pretty warm and it turned the lower slopes into mush.

So Im looking for a cheap and cheerful place to stay in Mid January and wondered what the numbers and conditions were like?

Anyone been that that time. Cheers.

I've been to Soll a number of times in January, usually towards the end of the month. Snow conditions have always been great with very few lift queues if any at all.

I have been to the Ski Welt and surrounding areas several times in January.

The only times I have come across a lift queue of more than a minute or two has been when a lift has broken down. Or when you have arrived just in time to miss the funicular in Ellmau, when the next one will be five minutes. Smile

Conditions have mostly been pretty good, although you can never be certain, of course.
