Have got myself a pair of hestras with leather palms and a free sample of balm for them, I am planning to buy some more balm so I can treat them, what I am confused about is how often this should be done, any recommendations for good balm appreciated too

It's designed for their own leather, You could probably try other leather balms, but I'd stick with what they recommend.

kb36, Once every week or two of use for the first month or so, then once every 6 weeks or so seems to be fine.

kb36, Just done my Hestra Gloves today, the sample managed to do my spare pair of gloves too which are all leather, result! Won't really know how much it has done till i use them but was very simple and they seem 'happier' !!

I've had my Hestra gloves for three years and did them once per season  The leather is still going strong though.

I still have some Leder-Gris wax, also some stuff for treating waxed leather items. I'll see what that is like for glove treatment also as I only have a small amount of the Hestra balm left.

Actually, reading the other thread on gloves a wax based treatment will affect breathability too much so I'll get a tin of the Hestra stuff.
