Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Has anyone used Miet Ski Hire in St Anton?

They seem a good bit cheaper than elsewhere and a decent alternative to hiring in Lech.

Do you have a car/how are you getting to Lech? Looking at the Mietski website, it's actually located in Pettneu.

If you were going to drive elsewhere to save money I'd look at Klosterle; it's a lot closer to Lech than Pettneu.

Mietski ski in Pettneu, it has pretty stupid hours (closes for lunch from 12-2 or something). My Mum used them last year, found it an absolute pain in the back bottom. If you want cheap I'd use hervis in St. Anton centre (skis are fairly basic though)

Hours may change this season tho, talk of Pettneu ski area opening up late December time although not part of the Arlberg ski pass. Negatiations apparently going on about Pettneu season tickets being able to use the St Anton lifts (note St Anton, not the resort of the lifts that fall under the Arlbegr area) for a couple of days a week.

If you were staying in Pettneu, then Mietski might be a good option, otherwise a major PITA if something goes wrong with the equipment.
