I'm totally behind small independent companies simply because i want to try and put my money back into snowboarding (i know your very ski orientated but i dont see the principle being any different) and not into the hands of corporates. My issue with buying from you at this stage would be that as a brand you seem to be very much "taking" (ie just doing it to make money). The first thing i look for on indy brands is who they sponsor (people, events, comps etc) and without evidence of the brand giving something back I wouldnt buy from them.

I can't believe people want to pay under £10 for a t-shirt.
The price is fine IMO. I do expect not to have to pay postage though and would rather that was in the price of the product. Guess that's just personal preference though.

but then you'd pay twice for delivery if you ordered two? i'm of the other mindset were i'd rather see what i'm paying for the product and services seperately.

Don't you just love folks that put words into my mouth. I have specifically stated that I don't think this has happened here. All I'm trying to do is point out that social media isn't and at the moment IMO shouldn't be the be all and end of marketing generally if customers beyond that demographic are being hoped for. IMO that is a valid comment to someone just starting out - esp. as it affects the website design the homepage of which I think should focus on more of what is for sale than pictures and instagram links.

By the same token I can't believe that there are people who would regularly want to pay more. I only own one £20+ T-shirt and that was for something very specific.

I see we're back in the standard format of debate here. Express a point or view that the vast majority don't agree with or don't think is an issue because you're not a sheep and then continue to develop it into a "me against the world" entrenched position by personalising any comments that are made even if they were made in a non-personal satirical sense.
I think you had a valid point which was whether social media links are too prominent compared to the "buy" button, but by writing a treatise on the etymology of Instagram have distracted considerably from that point. And putting up social media links is hardly "alienating" - it's what every online news provider now does with it's content to encourage dissemination. Yes, if people wilfully do not choose to engage in the modern world they will eventually find that there are lots of things they don't understand. Engagement doesn't mean using - I for instance am not an attender at West End musicals* but I could have a fair attempt at the plot of most of them from having glanced at reviews and just picked up general chit chat.

Want to pay more? It's not a case of wanting to pay more, just not wanting people to have to work people taken advantage of who produce them.

Megamum, why is Instagram/Twitter/Facebook any more a 'waste' of time than, say, this site?
|
As Megamum pointed out, she didn't say they were. However, I would argue that they do tend to be more of a waste of time. Not that SH is 100% intellectual quality, but Instagram/Farcebook and Twatter do seem to be particularly vacous. |
probably best if you dont go on tumblr then, your head will implode with the quality of the average blog on there!!

Nick D, The 'Jamie's moment' picture is tragic. That fat lad second from the left in the Columbia jacket, cheap goggles and nasty hat just screams 'LOSER'
I suggest you Photoshop him out of there and get someone a bit more aspirational |
I think fair very points, albeit made with a sledgehammer, they do look cheesy and it's all a bit "look at me". It doesn't do anything to help establish a brand identity so it's wasted space. Far better to make the product the hero and leave humans (who you may not associate with) out of it. Needs work.

We've been working hard on the website to make it more intuitive although a few items need recoding and aren't such a quick fix. Huge thanks for taking the time to look & comment, we've set up a voucher code for Snowheads giving 15% off everything - snowheadsintro - which is live until Christmas for anyone tempted.

One more thing I noticed - or rather didn't notice - is a returns policy / procedure. Perhaps I missed it but you'll need that to comply with the DSRs

Nick D, not sure how well you know the cycling clothing industry, but there is a fairly healthy (to me as an outsider it seems healthy!) leisure clothing range available - Twinsix, Morvelo etc.... I'm mentioning them as Sanglier seems to be a similar kind of idea to these.
I think they've done quite well out of exposure and special offers. Personally I wouldn't pay £24 for a t-shirt of a brand I'd never heard of (I don't spend that much on t-shirts very often anyway!), but have taken advantage of Morvelo's regular 3 for £45 sales. There are a load of cycling websites and magazines and Morvelo/Twinsix seem to send out a load of free t-shirts to be used as prizes or just for review by those websites and magazines - seemingly at the same time as one of their 2 for/3 for offers.
It's probable that Morvelo have got to a position where the brand is recognised and so people are more than happy to spend £24 on a t-shirt and they do their 2 for 1 deals a lot less often.
As it happens I'm wearing a Twinsix t-shirt right now and having read your Manifesto spent my summer holiday in Oz, cycling round the area!

Quick update, we've improved the site incorporating several of your suggestions. Product is now much more visible on the home page, there's a 2 tees for £39 promo running (snowheadsintro is still live for 15% off everything btw) and we've made more areas click-through to the shopping pages. The site is more animated now the social media widgets are all running and we're climbing the Google rankings slowly with lots of SEO still to do. Advertising with Fall Line has just started and our happy band of customers is growing

like your logo and I actually think £24 for the bamboo mix t-shirt is pretty reasonable - might buy one. I'm not a big fan of the designs beyond the simple logo ones - I'd feel a bit of a knob advertising my off-pistyness with the earn your turns and holy trinity designs but that's a matter of taste

Update: We’re now into our second years trading and have just released some new designs, a small range of headwear and an updated website. The last 12 months have been a blast, very hard work but we’ve established a really good following both in the UK and France, global domination beckons! Thanks to all SH’s who have given us advice and encouragement and those of you who’ve ordered from us at any time should have received a little Christmas pressie this week with our thanks.
Lots still to do, we’re working hard on next summer’s range which will include some mountain inspired bike wear and we have some very exciting ideas in the pipeline for next winter. Finally I’ve just set up a new discount code, using the code snowheads will get you a 20% discount on all current stock and we always welcome any feedback you care to share either on here or emailed through our website. Cheers

Got the buff in the post today. It's very nice, thanks. The tshirts are very good quality, the one I bought at the beginning of the year is still like new and gets worn once or twice most weeks. It's outlasted all the other ones I bought around the same time (those were about £15), I wasn't too keen on spending more than £20 on a tshirt but I'm glad I did.

Just placed another order with you Nick, my third now. I always get positive remarks about your tees, usually complimenting the designs AND the fact that it's not Norf Farce or Soupy Dry. A few are convinced I'm holding out on some ultra chic new shop and I always give them your website.
Keep up the good work
