Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Has anyone been to Hakuba, Japan?

My stepson has landed his first job in Hakuba as a ski instructor, so we are going to try and get out there in Feb. He will be based at Happo-one. Looks like there's loads of skiing, so it should be fun. We are in the initial stages of looking at accommodation. There's a vast choice on offer. Have any snow heads been? Where did you stay, any recommendations? We would want a hotel I think, with onsen, and minimum 3 star.
Any other tips or thoughts about skiing out there?

Perty, haven't been to Hakuba recently, but would recommend Snow Search Japan by Keith Stubbs as a guidebook.

nozawaonsen, how did I forget ! http://www.wsg-media.com/print/titles/snowsearchjapan/, we also found the lonely planet japan useful, also check with Japan Ski Experience, if you have flights already sorted they will do accomodation only as well, in the end we did it all independentaly because of the resorts we chose.

It's also worth having a look at http://ski.com.au/. It's an Australian site but has a pretty active Japan travel forum. My trips were more based around budget lodge style accommodation so don't have any hotel recommendations. If you want to stay near the slopes of Happo One then the Wadano area is pretty handy and appears to have some nice places to stay.
