I use sock liners, finding anything else far too thick! I have multiple pairs of Outlast liners (Columbia, IIRC), and they are the best. Make sure that they breathe well, and avoid any thickness, since that is likely to translate into movement between the foot and boot liner (rather like ball-bearings!).

How much do you want to spend? Cheap, Aldi and Lidl do some decent technical socks and their ski offers are coming over the next couple of weeks. More expensive I rather like my Teko Freeride World Tour socks.

Am a fan of Smartwool ski socks. The thinnest ones are great and nice and warm.

Be interested to see whether folk think forking out decent money for something like Smartwool socks is worth it. Have always had a boot problem due to an old injury which gives me the clamping pain etc which I'm convinced is due to lack of circulation. Have always used decent ski socks but not top of the range. Got to be worth giving them a try I suppose.

Merino ones like Smartwool and Teko give me plenty of warmth (even February skiing at 3000m) without anything like the bulk of synthetic ones. That is what appeals most, easier to get my boots done up just right without many mm of squishy socks in the equation.

Scarlet Fez, they're socks not miraculous but they are thinner for being as warm if that would help.

I'm a big fan of Smartwool - the PHD Sky Lights (might now be called the Ski Race) are thin enough to get a good boot fit but cushioned enough that they give a bit of comfort. I've had some pairs for 5 years now and they're still going strong, so they last a fair length of time. And as they're wool they can be used for several days without getting smelly.
Craigdon have them on 3 for 2 just now. That's enough socks to do you a 2 week holiday for £28.

I picked a few pairs of smartwool in Tackymaxx at the end of last season for €9.99, looking forward to trying them out this year.

Bumping this one, i'm after some new Socks, CEM suggested to keep them thin, bought some from EkoSport but too big unfortunately so going to buy in resort i think. I guess 'light' seems to be the choice of most, what about brand? Any thoughts?

Icebreaker and Smartwool are very good as I like a thinnish sock but that keeps me warm. Kids are using Thorlo ones which seem to be fine too

Everyone's different but after years of cheap socks I now go for reasonably priced and quality merino socks from Falke. My feet love me, as does my (and my mates) nose! I was told by my boot fitter that there' no point spending 100s on a good pair of boots then using ski tubes. Good quality socks only.

I've got oodles of pairs of Ski Socks .. Falke , Salomon, just oodles of expensives one .. some with silk liners ... Merinos etc.
But the very best I have found so far a Hally Hanson "Nursery" ski socks from TK Max ...
Just 2 pair for £9.95
They are without doubt the warmest and work perfectly well.
Tip: dont use layers of socks ... or tube socks.

I suspect wool socks won't solve your circulation problems but when it comes to value for money multiplied by comfort (warmth, breathability, wicking) I wouldn't buy anything but wool. Case in point, I have been using the same 6 pairs of Teko Merino socks for about 35 weeks of skiing. They are not showing any signs of wear or tear, not even thinning, surprisingly! And they get thrown in the washing machine along with everything else (although on a wool/silk cycle).

Actually, doing the sums, that works out to about 6 weeks of skiing per pair. So the lack of wear and tear is not that impressive. Still, the comfort factor is good

@Levi215, I've been using Smartwool for about 5 years, only now after a lot of skiing are one or two pairs starting to show any sign of wear at all. Warm, reasonably thin, and often available cheap through TKMaxx, I think I even got mine in Sportsdirect online at some stage.
If you want to go thinner, the Falke ones I've got are good, but frankly bonkers expensive for a sock, and unless your boots are really tight fitting and new, once they pack out a tiny bit the smartwool will give you warmth and they don't stink even after two or more days use.
