NE1,
No idea, Mrs M only does clothes shopping. I don't trust her with food

Got Toastertalby some of the socks, look to be decent technical socks with padding over the key areas, like the big people ones but scaled down for kids. Also a set of the base layers as she complains the softest merino going is itchy.
No Rudolph left in mine either but did get some bambi chunks and reindeer tasted pretty like venison to me!

My girls love them - they are in the lounge wearing their new socks, boots and hats. I am very impressed with the quality of all of them to be honest.

My daughter is also currently modelling the black base layer set and matching socks. Also got some socks for my 4 year old. At that price you can't go wrong! We're also eating the mini stollen...

daveyladboy, I had to walk very swiftly past the stollen - I am on a fasting day and if I had bought some it would have blown it.

Essential item in my bait box this time of year nom nom nom, think I'll get a couple of their mince pies out the drawer for supper along with a dash of whisky and double cream.
Paid £20 for a ski jacket and salopettes from Aldi about 10+ yrs ago, the salopettes were too warm but the jacket lasted about 5 seasons till the zip broke, I'm a bit of a reverse label snob, ie I refuse to look at the likes of North face, Berghaus etc where you pay for the label, I expect to earn a lot more than I normally do this year but I'll still be happy, warm & dry, in Lidl ski gear and put the money saved towards some time off work

I bought a spare pair of ski gloves from Lidl today (made with 3M thinsulate) for £4.99, so can't complain at that price!

Aldi is stocking from 5th December, https://www.aldi.co.uk/en/specialbuys/thursday-5th-december/
Got a couple of the base layers last year and tried them out in freezing PDS, as good as anything else i had.
Nice mapping, fit and compression while keeping pretty dry. certainly worth getting for the small outlay.

Not so impressed with the lidl gear this year.... the Aldi stuff looks better quality from what I can see in the above link. Full merino base layer for £40 and merino socks for a fiver is excellent!

You know it makes sense.

Aldi usually is better though got some good kids socks and base layers from Lidl this year.

Bought the yellow mens ski pants today. As I can't possibly have put any weight on since finding Haagen Dazs on special offer for £2 a tub in Asda, I'll just say they aren't generous with the cut...

NickyJ, DJL, davkt, sj1608 I rather felt the chances of finding ski stuff was about as high as finding kangaroos, trolley jacks, cement mixers, spare trampoline covers etc. However, I will take your word for it and keep my fingers crossed. |
Too late for kangaroo for now - it has sold out in my local Lidl. I did get the last packet of reindeer though. They are clearly an unsentimental lot in Cardiff - no compunction about eating either Skippy or Rudolf. The rest of your list should be in store next spring.

I agree, on the whole Aldi stuff is better BUT my nearest Aldi is 13.6 miles (according to their store finder) whereas I have a Lidl less than a mile from my work, however as said I thought the kids boots, socks, gloves and hats were surprisingly good quality given the price.

Have to say we've never had problems with Lidl gear, all the stuff we've got for the boys has lasted ok, and been handed down from one to the other.
Surfanic stuff on the other hand...

Got some Lidl goggs last night - usual high quality and I happen to like their orange lens. Princely sum of £7.99 makes it a no brainer compared to shelling out 70 Euro plus if I bust mine in resort.

I was over in Holland a month or so ago and picked up two sets of goggles in Lidl. They must have started the winter rush early. One dark lens, one orange. At the price it is worth having them just as a spare - a no brainer indeed.

Bought the waterproof helmet cam. Excellent picture quality. Managed to lose the helmet mount in a powder wipeout but found the actual camera. Ordered a spare over the phone just now. Excellent customer service!

The latest post has prompted me to do a user review.
The two pairs of goggles I bought as spares got full use over Christmas/New Year. When I got my ski gear out of the apartment cellar there was no sign of my usual Smith goggles that have done 10 years good service - no idea where they went, perhaps the mice got them or maybe they will turn up for the March trip. In any event the Lidl ones were pressed into service, one worn, other in my pack. They both performed admirably with no steaming up and one each ideal for bright and dull conditions. They didn't mark me out as a cool and awesome skier because of the lack of brand name but for Euro 8 per pair I can live with that. Fully recommended.
