I was in Plagne 1800 over new year 08/09 - blimey, scary to think it's that long ago...
I enjoyed Paradiski a lot - I love a bit area to explore. Last time on the slopes was in the 3Vs.
Tried my boots on last night - bloody hell had forgotten how uncomfy those things are

How are you going to get to Les Arcs from the UK then? I'm torn between Les Arcs and Zell Am see for 7th-14th of Feb:/
Never skiied anytime apart from Feb or April (NEVER skiing in April again, awful), how was it in new year?
Better get used to the constriction in time for feb then!

Eurostar direct from Ashford to Bourg St Maurice. Mates are on the same train, but as they booked earlier they got seats together. As I'm on my own I thought I best upgrade to "premier" Then I guess the funicular / coach up to the resort.
Snow was superb at new year, but as you'd expect, it was bloomin' cold.
Zell am see - never been but have a mate who's there most seasons.

Ed Ludlow, Congrats on getting back to it-if you don't mind me asking what sort of cost is the train? I don't live remotely close to London but I'm down with work often passing through St Pancras and wonder about getting a long weekend in.....
Pi, Les Arc and Zell are a bit apples and oranges as far as ski resorts go.
Zell, beautiful town and lakeside setting-year round destination. Skiing is pretty limited if conditions aren't great on the lower slopes. You've access to Kaprun and the glacier but if it's needed it will be mobbed. You also have several other areas which although aren't lift connected are close by-Kitzbuhel, Saalbach to name just a couple.
Les Arc huge area in its own right, connected to La Plange one of the biggest ski domains in the world. Loads of mileage if that's your thing, sence of travel etc. Runs to suit most particular intermediates and adventurous intermediates IMO. Based on skiing alone I'd go for Les Arc everytime but it depends on your ski level and personal preferences.

I think it would have about £250 standard, I've paid £330 for "premier".
Mates who booked when the tickets first opened paid £150 for standard, so worth booking early...

Depends where you go Pi - We've been to Tignes/Val Thorens at the end of April/May Day Bank Hol every year since 2007 and it's never been less than excellent - with powder at altitude on at least 50% of our trips. And we've also had a fair bit of good skiing into June on European glaciers.

Grizwald, Thanks for the heads up. I may aswell go for les arcs based on your recommendations, coupled with the fact i've been to Zell before. I am the type who enjoys racking up miles in a day, not just finding a nice slope then repeating it.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

mountainaddict, wow i've not heard of a June ski before! I stand corrected perhaps it was just a bad year in general, sounds like I should give it a second chance!!

Bergmeister, Just constant slush on the slopes, the kind that really slows you down and bogs. However was purely ice at altitude. Going by the advice of yourself and Mountainaddict i will endevour to give it a shot in the near future! perhaps i'll try Tignes!
