Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi,could any body advise,is car hire a better option when staying in chatel,tranfers from geneva very reasonable but was thinking of the logistics of getting back and for the slopes,are the free buses a better option?

cefnycoed, depends when you are going, where you are staying and where you will want to ski from but to be honest we have always had a car there, I have seen the buses and they look to be very crowded particularly the route through Linga to Pre la Joux and the queue at the end of the day at Pre la Joux can be quite large. That said we are always there peak weeks and with kids so for us car makes better sense. On my own on a quiet week I would use the bus if I needed to.

cefnycoed, last week in Feb, if you are going to Linga or Pre la Joux, get there early or you will still be catching the bus or walking a long way from the car park to the lift

I think it depends where you are staying in Chatel. If you're on or near a shuttle route, it saves the hassle of parking when the car park gets busy.
