I have been getting more merino baselayers as I need warmer legs I struggle in the afternoons in december elevation or on longer tree powder days in the lower back area too.
Cold seems to creep up on you then gets nasty very quick in the arvo with later headcolds or coughs that never leave..
Chairs are part of this with myself my temp just tanks as you are caught in glacier wind often sitting on ice and steel wishing the bloody chair would arrive faster .
Do others get this around -20 and colder?
I like merino it works really well overall.... I don,t know enough about other synthetics from Patagonia and arcteryx etc
Having just got this sales mail today it may suit someone going in dec/jan and needing warmer icebreaker 260 weight leggings with good fit and the wee wee relief cut etc
I just bought another brand std 190 weight type  these Icebreaker 260 are probably better (and another tenner ) if heading out early up high.

I've various icebreaker stuff as it's supposed to be the best of the natural stuff and it's inevitably all you can buy some places I ride. It doesn't work for me at all though, its sort of soft in the shops and all, but when it's damp and cold it seems a lot like I'd expect damp and cold wool to be. So I guess it's a matter of what you like, and the sheep are safe from me.
I ride a lot in the cold and use the Patagonia stuff when I'm paying/ choosing. I like the compression stuff too. So I'm a fan of synthetic stuff I can use and abuse and which isn't hairy.

I'm a sucker for 'the next big thing' but bamboo baselayers work well for me and are much more comfortable than merino.

I won a bamboo base layer in the SnowHeads Prize Draw the other year. Being a giving sort of guy I got a lady-one for best belove'd and she swears by it. Kept her warm and toasty on her night marathon walk as well as on the mountains.

there's merino and merino. Some can be a bit scratchy and hairy. Tirol 164, you catch a cold from a virus, not a chilly chairlift. But the latter might lower your resistance.
How do you do a poo in a onesie? Do they have openings like those trousers that little Chinese kids wear?
