Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Should custom footbeds have an ankle support?!

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi

GF has had a set of pro custom insoles done. Mine have an heel support/stabilizer in them, I also have a profeet set that have a whole flat base/support.

However, the guys that did my girlfiends have just given her an insole, with no support round the heel.

Is this OK, or should there be a support there?

scottydog, Each footbed is moulded to the needs of the user. If your GF is light, well balanced on her feet with equal pressure, and no alignment issues, why would stabilisers be needed. If you are really worried, go to a different bootfitter and ask their opinion. If they suggest a stabiliser, they can add one. Smile

scottydog, I think you're talking about posting which is bulding up around the contours footbed and heel cup to give a stable shape. I've only ever had two sets of custom insoles done. the first weren't posted, the more recent set were done at profeet and as you describe form a complete heel cup and support the full length of the instep.

I guess you get what you pay for.

How much does it cost to have them done at the likes of Profeet?

Had some done on Saturday at the new place in Bourg Saint Maurice, with a discount it worked out around 37-40 euros (per pair). Took him about an hour to do two kids. Excellent technician, really helpful.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

PG, Profeet, EB's & S&R are all about the same price at about £45 a pair for custom footbeds.

Profeet's have an integral fully supported base as scottydog says but EB attach a seperate support to theirs. Can't remember what S&R's were like.

Every bootfitter will give you a different opinion. Bootfitters are like alignment specialists - they all work in mysterious ways, eh SMALLZOOKEEPER?! wink
