Poster: A snowHead

Thinking about a short break next week, or the following week. I've been to Tux and Saas Fee and liked both - but for 3 guys I probably favour skiing at Tux and staying in Mayerhofen - if it was Zermatt we'd probably stay in Cervinia.
Which would you choose based on conditions, extent of area and a wee bit of nightlife (I know there will be virtually zero of that - bar late pm in the Hohenhaus)?

Zermatt, stay in Zermatt. Night life very good in Feb. Not sure about October. It is a fantastic place.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Zermatt...and for a bit of fun, book their ski test package through the tourist office (think you can do this in Saas Fee too)-2-3 days accommodation, lift pass, testing and even a 1 hour ski clinic mid morning thrown in. Last year, we ended up with one ski instructor to ourselves, basically had a private lesson for an hour. Trying new kit is always fun and makes the limited pistes less of an issue. We can just about afford 2 nights in Zermatt. Not sure about nightlife, a few bars will be open, but it won't be a party town (but would anywhere be?).

I went to Mayrhofen in November and Scotland Yard got busy late on. Can't remember anywhere else being busy.
The bar at the bottom on the lift in Tux was mental early doors

That's the Hohenhaus Tenne - brilliant place. I think Zermatt would be 2-3 hundred dearer than Tux and that could be a deal breaker. Good restaurants in Mayerhofen and as you say the Scotland Yard.

Why not add Stubai to the mix? Should be relatively quiet next week (except for race clubs of course - Bavarian school HT and parts of Austria also have HT). I'm going to Stubai or Hintertux on Friday and Sölden at the weekend, so I can give you a report on those places.

Mate of mine's kid is in the UK disability ski development squad. No space at Tux in November, so they're going to Landgraaf in NL!

Cheers guys. Sue I'd appreciate that. Currently having a slight difficulty getting the capital expenditure past the CEO!
Quite like the Zermatt ski test idea though.
But Hohenhaus Tenne is also calling!
