...Just a quick heads up on Clothing and the like that is available at the moment.
Some quality gear appeared at my local one this week with some superb discounts.
Was able to get some Spyder Tech pants down from £280 to £90
Also saw some nice quality jackets from Mammut, Bogner and Craft amongst others...plenty of stuff in early this year it seems.
Also loads of quality leather gloves including Race gloves.
Go fill yer boots

Seems to be a massive variation in what's available. Do they have a store by store buying policy because I've never seen anything but tat in the Wigan store. A few half decent pairs of socks are all I've ever bothered with.

Just bought a lovely Trespass soft shell jacket for £30 in the Middlesbrough shop - RRP marked as £99. Label says it's waterproof too (Trestex fabric). A few other ski jackets in there (Dare 2 Be etc) as well.

Isn't that what TKMAXX specialise in?, I'm looking for a new jacket for this season but everything is dark colours which get too hot for me when the sun comes out.

With my local one it usually starts nowish with the leftovers from last years stocks and the occasional new thing appearing amongst the general outdoor sports stuff then in the next 3 or 4 weeks more stuff comes in till the snow sports rails appear with a mix of D2B/Trespass/Surfantic and high end stuff from the big ski brands.

There's both an out-of-town and a city centre TK Maxx near to me. Both have skiwear in, but with significantly varying standards. The out of town store has Spyder, TNF, Bonfire, Nike 6.0 to name but a few. Not bad prices either and a reasonable price range. The city centre has sod all of quality.

Exactly right, and that's the point. Worth rummaging through the rails, there are bargains to be had as long as you don't mind not having 'This season'

Oakley jackets/Bonfire/Tenson/Spyder and a few Da Kine gloves in my nearest plus the usual surfanic/trespass/dare2be. Only really want a few pairs of Smartwool phd racer lights though

Went in Nottingham branch and found nothing worth having apart from one pair of ladies thermal smartwool pants. Excellent! Except some numpty had stuck the security tag through the packaging where the pants were, so when it was taken off there would be a nice big hole in them .

maggi, they do it that way to stop people just nicking the stuff out of the packets. We used to do that too, and had to write off a load of stuff when we realised what was happening

Yup, keeps my growing kids in ski/snowboard gear, and the stupid prices people pay on ebay for kids ski gear means overall cost is close to zero!

I had a dig around in Leeds Crown Point branch a couple of days ago, but nothing of significance really. In fact, there was hardly a whole rail of ski gear as far as I could see. There were a few Surfanic jackets that didn't look too bad, and some bright Quicksilver ones, but no 'top end' brands. Plenty of down mittens though, if that's your thing, for about £15. I picked up a pair of Salomon gloves which can go in my bag as a spare (my current spares are sightly leakier than a sieve), and the bonus is that they match my jacket

Forgot, they do have a couple of women's Patagucci fleece jackets, but only in teeny tiny and an interesting shade of green. Could make a cosy mid layer though.

I noticed some blue mid layer type Spyder tops the other day. Still about £50, but that's possibly a bargain to someone.

Given the store, is that a brand or a description that it's suitable for chucking on the pile on 5 Nov ?

Both Orpington and Guildford branches have a good range of stuff at the moment. Some lower end stuff but with high end kit mixed in (as per usual!). Orpington has a lot of jackets in at present, so if you're local it's worth a trip!

So how does one tell if a jacket/sallopettes are good? Mine are soaked inside after a days good skiing and I'd like to get some more but don't want to make the same mistake again.
