Poster: A snowHead

Anyone know this area?
I'm job hunting for the season and looks like I may have to look outside of the area I have been for the last three seasons. Someone suggested a job in this place but I have no idea about it?? Help?

Quiet, pretty town. Not far from the high life of Megeve for evenings out.
Access to plenty of skiing, especially if you have a car.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

chaletgirl, Some of the chalets are spread out quite far above Combloux itself, definitely would advise having a car there. Easy access to Megeve, Saint Gervais, and Les Contamines with Flumet, La Giettaz and Chamonix a bit further away.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

chaletgirl, it's a French sort of a place, Combloux. If it matters to you, I can't imagine you'll find many British "saisonnaires" around the (quiet.....) bars. Some very nice skiing, "face a Mont Blanc" though not the greatest for retaining its snow in warm weather.

Thanx Pam w. Would be quite refreshing to to be away from the British seasonaire 'scene'. I've struggled to pick up more than basic French in the last three seasons, so going somewhere that is more French would force me to actually communicate with people! I used to prefer to use the mainly French cafe I found last season but wasn't often brave enoughg to actually use my limited French!! Am joining a conversation group in Bristol so will hopefully improve before the season starts cheers

Will do Miranda. Was spectacularly rubbish last season and didn't get in touch with anyone from here we're I was last year - a combination of losing three friends back home and not being able to get back for funerals and having a pretty rubbish season work wise. Plan to have a better one this season, so will do my best

A great skiing area, lots of really good and quiet runs on be Portes de Mont Blanc side, linked with Megeve, and easy to get to les contamines & Chamonix with a car.
Fairly low, but is on grassy fields so less of an issue than elsewhere, and no trouble at all for the last two seasons

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.
