Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hotel Alpino Plan Selva Val Gardena- access to lifts

Anyone stayed here?

Seems to have good reviews for the hotel and food which is great Very Happy

Seems to be a chair within 5 minutes walk which accesses one of the main gondolas (Dantercepies?). However lots of reviews on trip advisor mention getting a bus to a gondola

Am I right in thinking that the nearer one accesses the Sella Ronda circuit in one direction and the further away gondola accesses it in the other direction plus most of the local slopes?

Anyone know what the bus service is like in terms of reliability and frequency?

I know the snowfall can be a bit erratic so do people mostly wait until nearer the time to book up for the Dolomites? Or is it a safe bet with the snowmaking?

Thanks

MCL Very Happy

If you put the address in google maps, you can see the proximity of the lifts to hotel, but looks like it's a bus ride from main access points.
The Costabella chairlift will take you down to the Danterceppies new gondola, orange route, supposed to be the most skiing, and the Ciampinoi the green, more lifts, and the bars and restaurants are in that area, but the hotel sounds brilliant.

Str Plan 71, 39048 Selva di Val Gardena, Italy

The Italians are magicians with the snow, and the snow making facilities are second to none, the Sella Ronda is their USP (unique selling point) and it will be complete at the opening day of the season. snowHead

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

There is a bus stop right outside the hotel.

If you walk downhill two hundred metres, cross the river/stream, there is a very short chair. From the top of this you can ski to the Ciampinoi gondola (left fork) or ski down a path to the Crystal bridge (right fork). Crystal bridge leads to the Costabella lift and then Dantercepies gondola.

Returning in the evening is not so simple. Clockwise ronda brings you back to the bottom of short chair and a walk back uphill : Anti-clock leaves you in the village ; you can walk back (long!) or bus ; or go up Ciampinoi and work your way back to Short Chair - (I shall remember its name by next week..!)

Either way -- there is a very nice (and popular!) bar at bottom of Short Chair ; another bar half way up the hill to hotel ; a bar in the hotel....................................... Smile

Not sure of bus frequency, but think it is a few Euros for the week (7??)
