Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

.... for whatever reason, correctly or otherwise, your favourite and most frequented ski resort decides that helmet use is compulsory for all users.

In this situation, would you give in and put a lid on so you can continue shredding your favourite runs, go somewhere else or camp out Frenchy style with banners held high proclaiming

"je ne vais pas porter un casque"

title amended to solicit response from those that currently choose not to wear a helmet, which will of course be ignored by those that do, probably because their brains are cooked and they can't hear.... (which for the sake of clarity for those without the humour gene is actually intended to be a joke)

i don't wear a helmet currently, but if my favourite resorts enforced it i would wear one. I choose not to out of habit and comfort. I am sure i could resolve both in time.

tiffin, you have a point, you just can't be too careful. However, I suspect that Mrs achilles already wonders if I should be certified. Donning a helmet now might convince her.

Interesting developments there. I'm hearing that it's becoming fashionable NOT to wear a helmet - a sign of how gnarly you are. Every dog has it's day, what goes around comes around etc.

sorry, dont know how to post links ( apocalypse snow pt 1 ..you tube ), but what with cliff drops, cornice leaps, moguls, mono skis, wintersticks, trees, inverted aerials , near vertical straight runs all in close proximity, and not forgetting machine guns ...... all without a single helmet in sight ! I think Bode may well be right ......

Oh, yeah, as mentioned above, the Compagnie du Mont Blanc will willingly reduce it's potential market?

but if they did enforce helmet wear and you dont choose to wear a helmet whilst skiing or boarding as of now, would you wear helmet so you could?

it is seriously, a serious question.

I would prefer to wear a beanie, but then I haven't got much hair.

I wear a helmet now for 2 reasons. 1 because we insist the kids wear them and I couldn't not for that reason alone, but 2 because it's almost impossible to justify not wearing one as a husband/father etc etc etc. Especially speaking as someone who has already fractured their skull playing silly bugs in their youth.

ansta1, ok serious answer, in such a situation, and given that we have an apartment and business in Chamonix but find e.g. due to friends being in PDS and GM that even the heavily discounted CMB pass marginal, we'd probably buy GM passes and drive a little further.

But we wear helmets anyway, finding them generally efficient and comfortable.

I/we wear helmets now, not because they are cool but because they are KOOL!!!!

Only joking, a couple of years ago we where skiing a black run in folgarida and an experienced skier knocks a low confident but very compitent skier off his feet they where both great skiers, it was a complete accident however it concussed the younger skier and shook him up. After taking him to the bottom and getting him a water we decided to get him some medical advice as he was not looking too great, the medic said he was lucky to be as he was as WITHOUT a helmet he would have sustained a fractured skull and participated in a heli ride.

On second inspection when all was calm his helmet was split from top to bottom, the scary thing was that both skiers where the slowest in the group and where taking it easy!

All of the group decided from this day that we where all going to wear healemts and be safe when skiing.

No one in the family/group to this day would not ski without a helmet!

PS his dad said it was the best £100 he had ever spent and to finish off, he was the only one in the group wearing a helmet due to his dads persistance!
