Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Not had a jacket with a fixed hood, it seems odd when so many people wear helmets. Seems like it will be forever dangling behind me catching snow. Anyone cautious about them and then found them not to be a problem?

I've been wondering about that, as I wear a helmet and have always taken hoods off jackets. However, have just acquired a new (expensive.....) jacket with a fixed hood which is "helmet friendly". Trying it on in the living room it seems fine - and I guess will be welcome when the weather is really horrible.

This is the first expensive jacket I've ever bought (Haglofs). In the past I've always had cheaper ones, including excellent Trespass jacket from T K Maxx which I wore for ages. Just decided to push the boat out!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

TX MAXX dont have anything yet in store, been in there this morning.

There were a few bits and bobs in the Derby store yesterday (smartwool midlayers, spyder tops, D2B jackets) so I guess it is starting to arrive.

One thing to look out for is how waterproof they are. I now specifically look for stuff that has a minimum of 5000mm and preferably 10000. Plus of course good breathability. I've bought some stuff in the past that didn't stand up to wet snow days. The kids also wear their jackets away from the ski slopes. Trespass and Surfanic seem to often have it quoted in the lining of the jacket. Others can be harder to find.. often because it's down at 3 or 2000.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Has anyone been to Decathlon lately to see if the ski stuff has arrived yet? I'm desperate for some new ski thermals to wear at work. I've tried M&S thermals but I'm still shivering.
