Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Looking for some help/advice on buying my first snowboard. Not sure on freestyle/free ride etc. I'm 6'2 and just over 11 stone. Been snowboarding a few times now. So know what I'm doing. I think lol. I just ride piste really no parks. Want a good board that is designed for what I want.

Any help or advice would be great guys, thanks

Huh. Im an intermediate snowboarder (blues and red, blacks after a good dump) and my first board was/is a K2 Raygun. I cant add much other than its a good intermediate board, I found it MUCH better than a rental, and I would recommend it for piste riding.

Its neither cheap nor expensive, but somewhere in the middle. FYI, getting a good pair of boots is actually more important than getting a good first board.

It's a good time to get a great deal. I just had a look at the "bliss" website http://www.blisssnowboards.co.uk/ , 1/2 price for some great boards, they've got a snowboard selector tool to help you out. Makes me want to buy another one too Very Happy
ps, I don't work for them or own it.

Absolute truth! I bought my boots like three years ago and my snowboard last year, I couldn't afford to buy both of them in the same season (was low season though). To give you some buy advice, here's what I did: go to a good retailshop which specialises in snowboards/ski's. What Zanarchist said, start of with picking the right boots that fit you the best, nothing worse than making the wrong decision there. Eventually pick a board as well. Thank the person that helped you and say you have to think about it and go home. Browse the web for internet shops, which usually are cheaper. I actually also got a discount on www.voucherbox.co.uk which made it even cheaper (be sure to keep an eye on that website). And there you have, your brand new kit for a fair price. Hope this works out for you!

Don't get too hung up on a particular brand or model. Decide what you budget is and work out the size you want and/or width. Only real factor is don't buy a true twin if you mainly want to do piste riding. Plenty of mid range boards or even a high end at lower prices probably. Personally I wouldn't consider anything without wood core and sidewall construction these days (too many cheap generic cap boards) but that's a matter of opinion.

Tuckletsnow, You don't say what size boots you take - at 6'2" you're likely to be in posession of some sizable feet, so if you are over a size 11, you may want to consider a wide or mid-wide board to make sure you're not getting overhang

Yes in this situation the wearing of boots is very important and it must be such that must be comfortable and must feel free.
