Some fabulous photos there, davidof, I hope I'll ski with you one day before I get too old for the steep stuff.
I didn't take my camera last season (though some of my friends did). I need to buy a compact camera for skiing since my main SLR is too valuable.
About to ski Diagonal Gully down to Loch A'an, back of Cairngorm 19th May (why do Davidof's photos come out bigger than mine? Is it something to do with testicle size?)

I walked around the east side of the Chartreuse today, a quick look before the snow arrives.

I thought I'd seen some mountain biking sights in the Dolomites but that's truly hardcore. Great skiing photos and gives me some ideas for ski touring different areas this winter.

Certainly kitenski. Here's the company we went with:
http://www.mustangpowder.com/
As you will see from the website, accommodation is in a luxury wilderness lodge. The lodge is about 40km from the Trans Canada Highway, near Revelstoke and is reached by bus then snowcat for the last half hour or so. The whole set up and experience is out of this world - the lodge is fabulous (you really are in the middle of nowhere), the food amazing, the staff (from guides to servers etc) all brilliant....oh and and the skiing was just mindblowing - every turn was fresh tracks. We did 3 days/3 nights. The weather was a bit mixed - which meant that we skied a mix of tree runs and open, alpine bowls. All were fantastic. We really were gutted to leave and can't wait to go back at some point - the whole experience was like a dream!
Here's an excellent article, which just about says it all - and almost brought tears to my eyes when re-reading it a few minutes ago! http://www.mustangpowder.com/docs/ski_canada_october_2011.pdf
Mustang Powder's not cheap, although it's less than half the cost of heliskiing. We did it in January 2013 following three of our party of four reaching the big 5-0 in the previous Nov/Dec. However, I would say quite unequivocally that it's worth every penny.
The catskiing was part of a road trip - here's my report from the time - it includes a lot more Mustang Powder photos:
http://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?p=2191690&highlight=road+trip#2191690
Before Mustang Powder, we'd previously catskied at:
- Chatter Creek, nr. Golden - Fantastic skiing but we had a poor customer service experience. Guests travel by helicopter to their wilderness lodge - but we couldn't fly as, following a mega-snowfall, the helis were all in use for avalanche control work on the Trans Canada Highway. We missed a day/night (at a cost of ££££) and found to our shock that it was tough luck - no refund, no recompense and not so much as a free drink on arrival. So we were up the Creek....Appalling really and we wouldn't go back or recommend them.
- Fernie Wilderness Adventures, which is a day trips business in...Fernie(!). Absolutely brilliant and so good we immediately re-booked for the following day. You stay in the town, so it's a lot cheaper than the wilderness lodge operations. Highly recommended. http://www.powdercatskiing.ca/default.asp

So we were touring around Cairngorm on the same day! Where did you go? |
We did a few tours from April to May snowball so details are sketchy...but I think from that day's photos that we skinned up to the summit; down the other side; up towards Coire an t Sneachda(?); turned left and skied down to just above loch Avon; back up towards the summit of Cairngorm; but turned right and skinned up to the ski area via Ciste Mhearaidh.
No doubt you were in the vicinity?
