Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Resort ideas for Newbies

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi, this is my first post.

I've been skiing about 20 years with my family; recently my group of friends expressed a desire to do a group holiday subject to costs.

I'm just looking for suggestions of places that would be good for a group of 6-8 people in their mid twenties with lots of stuff to keep the beginners entertained but enough challenging stuff to keep me happy too.

Probably somewhere reasonably high as it would be towards the end of the season and as cheap as possible.

Any ideas would be really appreciated.

Action Outdoors holidays organised at UCPA centres in France. All-inclusive prices which include full board, equipment, lessons and ski pass. Absolutely unbeatable prices.

supergilface, if you could sell the hostel accomodation to your friends with UCPA you would at least get to have fun skiing with an advanced group while your friends have their beginner lessons. Check out Val T UCPA, nice and high so good for late season and it has twin rooms which might be an easier sell to your friends. ski in ski out nad beginners stuff right out the door really. You get Val T lift pass not the full 3V tho - but can upgrade for €24/day which I did for 2 days.

Alpe D'Huez

Not ADH for late season! It is south facing so despite the height is not so good for late season.

L2A would suit - cheap and high.

kat.ryb, the OP said towards the end of the season. ADH is at 1850 and L2A is at 1650. There are lots of easy accessed beginner slops plus challenging stuff for the OP himself. ADH is a decent town with plenty of life. So I still think it's good for the OP. Last years weather thread (noted, that was a good year) http://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=93581&start=200

I'd agree with kat.ryb, height is usually not the problem at ADH - sun on the south facing slopes is. Last year was an exceptionally good year and I wouldn't bet on a repeat.

Took a group of a similar description to Solden first year and their second trip was to Obertauern last year - both April trips.

Layne, I agree that ADH is in general a great resort, but it is NOT a good resort 'towards the end of the season' because it is mainly S facing (lovely in Dec, not so much in late March) so doesn't hold the snow well despite its height.

Now if you want an early season tripm or a mid seaon trip, I can't rate ADH highly enough. Actually one of my favorarte resorts.
