Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Arctic Circle - Ski Mountaineering in Norway Video/Slideshow

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
While everyone is waiting for the snow to arrive I thought I would share a YouTube video/slideshow from my adventures with a couple of friends back in April in the amazing ski touring paradise that is Northern Norway.

Here's some shots from the video/slideshow as a taster:

Enjoy!

Stunning pix.

Funnily, only last night I was on Google Earth looking at the wrinkley bit round Lyngen. Nice!

How did you get there? Where did you stay? Was it quite expensive?

Thanks for the comments everyone.

MikePow, we organised the trip ourselves, trawled the internet for information and emailed some locals. The guidebook Ski Touring in Troms which is now published in English is very handy too.

altis I won't lie, Norway is relatively expensive compared to a trip to the Alps. Also with no package deals available, the costs start to ramp up fairly quickly. You can fly to Tromso from the UK (both indirect and direct). We split our stay between Tromso and Lyngen. On the plus side the almost unlimited amount of steep terrain available means ski tourers are thinly spread across many mountains and you would be very unlikely to encounter many large groups unless you tended to stick to the one or two really popular ski touring mountains. We has a few days where we met no-one or just one other single group.

We stayed in catered accommodation. I love camping and huts but it wasn't that sort of trip.

We didn't have any guides with us mountainaddict but there are plenty of good ones in the area if required.
