Poster: A snowHead

It is my perception that Champoluc pops up quite frequently round here and this would suggest a reasonably robust market for accommodation - although certainly for apartments and chalets this seems somewhat unfulfilled.
Thoughts anyone?

Champoluc is a smallish resort with limited accommodation (around 30 hotels, but most with only 15 / 10 rooms), but specialist tour operator Ski 2 have featured the resorts for 15 years and offer pacakages inclusive of airport transfers and lift passes. They also run their own British ski school and British-staffed nursery. www.ski-2.com

under a new name, so your question was more along the lines of "if I bought a property would it be easy to fill it" then

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

under a new name, I think most of the mentioning of Champoluc comes from your good self And I've aspired to go but always thought a view endorsed by a CHX instructor I was speaking to last season that half board hotels would be pretty affordable and/or appts peanuts. But I've also got to confess I lump Gressoney/Alagna in the same bag and probably a bit down valley given I'd likely be in a hire car ex Torino.

I recall staying in a small catered chalet there a few years ago. A nice part of the world and I'd go back for sure. A bit more going on than the two Gressoney villages.

We had a really enjoyable week in Champoluc last March under a new name, - we stayed in the Breithorn which was very comfortable. There seemed to be a few hotels around - we hadn't looked for or considered s/c apartments or a chalet but that is just because when we have the odd week or two away from our own chalet then its a bit of a treat.

bruisedskier, nope, we have property already, more a question about what folks thought likely take up might be. Our perception - and I hasten to add that the Ski2 offering looks really good on all counts, particularly for families with kids wanting ski school - is that the general quality and vfm for s/c is more or less rubbish, going on the experience of friends who rented.
Yes, their apartment did sleep six but you had to fold four sleeping spaces away to get the dining table down ... etc. ad deep boredom. We would have found it becoming very old very quickly... and it was eye wateringly pricey.
I could possibly have phrased my OP better

under a new name, Whenever I have looked into self catering in Italy it seems very expensive for what you get.
I was thinking of going to Champoluc a couple of years ago, the Ski2 deals did look good but I didn't want to be there for a whole week, my plan was to stay down the valley and drive up but didn't go in the end.

under a new name, been to Champoluc although to be fair we stayed in Gressoney which we liked, but agree it is very quiet.
I knew what you were getting at, I suspect "Roger" did not, in fact it read more like a triggered email response.
I think the sucess could hinge on whether there are enough eateries and supermarkets, maybe that's the opening, otherwise it's hawling it up from Turin.
