Snow Reports
FAQ
Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ben & Tarka are taking five pairs of super light Trab WC Prima Duo carbon rando skis with Rottefella BC Manual bindings plus a spare pair of bindings. They're expecting temperatures down to -50C plus wind chill to -70C.
Apparently some fat scouse bloke in Nottingham has mounted all their binding & installed Quiver Killer inserts

Scott
went on 2 Antartic Expeditions. These were named after the boats they sailed in. Discovery 1902-4 and Terra Nova 1910-12. His Polar Medal (official GB military award) was in a Christchurch NZ museum in the 1980s. Someone noticed that it had the Discovery clasp (a bar with the name that sits on the ribbon) but not the Terra Nova one. Following investigation no record could be found it had ever been Issued.A certain Snowhead, who may be called Mark, had the privilege of officially awarding the Terra Nova clasp to Capt
Scott
's Polar Medal. With his son's permission it was sent direct to the museum in NZ.
See Wikipedia page on
Scott
. Pic shows him wearing the hexagonal medal.
Just a bit of trivia.
Interesting to see how these chaps get on.
spyderjon
, are there any problems with bindings at those temps
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.
