We have the option to visit Les Gets on 15 Dec with our 4 children but are unsure of snow/ski availability and town opening as i believe the season starts 21 Dec? Could anyone offer any advice on visiting around this time? Thank you

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

nooby24, welcome to SHs. Yes, I believe the season starts on 21 December - as it does in many resorts. So there might well be snow but it gets very tiring with no lifts. The town might not have much open before the 21st.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

nooby24, we went to Morzine for the same week last year but hired a car and then drove to either Ardent, SuperMorzine or Prodains to go up to Avoriaz. Avoriaz opens in 14th Dec this year. It's a bit more of a schlep from Les Gets but if you have a car then it's achievable.

nooby24, there are resorts in France open on the 15th Dec (snow permitting) but not the low areas such as Les Gets

The Chavannes in Les Gets lift will actually open on the 13th, along with the Pleney, so you should be fine from the 15th (normal caveat re snow of course).
