Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

rungsp, it was in great condition given the time of year. Thought there was a few more people than usual on it though wink .

Today we woke to a couple of CM of fresh snow but reduced visibility although it did not really mater as we had some great runs. The Etharolla was fantastic around 10ish along with the rest of the mountain. The Muraz red was closed for the local racing club so we made our way over again to Les Chottes where the conditions were very good. We spent a little time at the Teepee in Thyon watching the end of season water ski, but not quite in the weather they were hoping for.

All in all a wonderful end to 12 days here.

Last day of the season for me, yesterday the snow was really nice on the higher parts of the mountain, proper mid winter packed powder on piste and 15-20 cm of proper powder off.

Lower down was slushy, obviously, but still just about OK to ski all the way down to the village (at about midday anyway).
Full coverage but on all but a couple of short pitches and corners where it was brown slush.

It may not have been a vintage season for snowfall but Verbier has had plenty and there is still loads of skiing to be had.

Verbier closes May Day weekend, and although it will be on a somewhat reduced lift system all the mountain will still be open for skiing and I have no doubt at all that there will still be plenty of snow to ski on.

Still great snow today. Nobody around at all. Packed up skiing at 1130 and walked along the Bisse de Levron to Namaste as it was their last day of the season. Savolyeres shut this afternoon, not that you've been able to ski to Namaste for a fortnight!

Lovely day yesterday. Couple of cm overnight led to great conditions on Mt Fort and Col des Gentianes. Runs into Verbier have been shut since Monday, but above Ruinettes there's still great snow cover. Spent the afternoon at the waterside in La Chaux that is the centerpiece of the "Ultime Session". Highlight was four skiers dressed as cave men attached to two skis and a mono board in a sort of "three legged" affair.

Started raining heavily around 9 last night and still pouring.....snow line looks about 1200m.

About 30cm has come down. Had a great day, more people going uphill training for the patrouille des glaciers than skiing downhill. Vis was a bit iffy, but still great skiing. Managed to get down to the last bend above Verbier and then a 20m walk.

Looking at the forecast there's still plenty of life left in this winter.

Virtually zero visibility yesterday. Good excuse for a wonderful fondue in Cabane Mont Fort. Dawned bright and sunny today. Lifts were open at 0430 for people to go to support the Patrouille des Glaciers, means that the last day of the season will also be the longest.

Stunning closing day yesterday. Clear blue skies with 5-10cm fresh. Despite the Patrouille it was pretty quiet, Mt Fort was bump free.

So that's a seven month season delivered by Verbier and as it's unlikely that we'll have a July opening this winter, that's it until November.
