Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I really liked the trailer, just looks like great cinematography, epic locations and a bit of an 'avant-garde delight' as you put it, to me. I'll definitely be giving it a watch on the run up to this season.

I'm a bit over the moody faces, slomo snowfall and the irrelevant art movie stuff - time for some all killer no filler trailers.

Apart from somewhat abusing the 70's movie tricks I quite like it. One of the things I didn't like about the Eye of the Condor entries was how samey they were. I'd prefer more decent documentary ski movies, climbing seems to achieve that much better probably as there is inherently less spectacle. Ski porn is awesome but there is a lot of room for diversity.

meh, ave you ever seen 91 words for snow? - I've not seen a ski flick that captures that whole breadth and depth in a single crisply edited movie

Avant-garde delight if their previous works are anything to go by - With a side order of self importance (most of their movies claim to use no mechanical means of uplift) Wink

I quite like it. I know it's been done before, but it really seems to add a bit of genuine flavour. There's nothing worse than repeated lines and park tricks to endless thrash metal and growling.

I have enjoyed all of the previous Sweetgrass offerings and like the general ethos of what they do so I can look past the annoying "instagram filter" that seems to have been absent mindedly left on the lens and enjoy the skiing!

I'm all for documentary type stuff, as long as there is actual interesting, informative content (along with the action). I'm bored of the long irrelevant intros, timelapses showing the stars spinning around, etc.

If anyone has seen the kayaking video (if not, you should, even if not a kayaker) of the Inga Rapids on the Conga, that's the sort of thing I mean. Documentary style with loads of info about the destination (geographic and historical), the journey, genuine exploration and then a load of paddling porn.

clarky999, yup, documentaries actually need to document something. I thought both Deeper and Further did an alright job of it but were still quite superficial and more about going to loads of cool places to snowboard rather than documenting what it is like to go to these places to snowboard.

Opposite. Bored with pure skiing. Want to know more about the guys(-girls) who can do this lunacy as routine but it must be a game of diminishing returns.

I've got the other Sweetgrass Production movies and really like them; favourite is Signatures however I am a bit weary of this latest one, not into hippie culture at all. Think I will look into watching online instead of purchasing a hard copy. Maybe there will be an Itunes option?

Nice cinematography and a cool trailer overall, but if the full thing has the same relative proportions of skiing to navel-gazing then I'm not sure it'll count as a skiing film. Probably will still watch it though...

I was a bit disappointed by Signatures. They tried to show a bit more of the land/culture/characters, but it all felt far too shallow to me. Not much real content, seemed like they were happy to just skim the surface and portray everyone as dreamy snow hippies, without delving to deeply into how they actually live and are able to sustain the lifestyle. No real geographical info about where they were either.

Which is fine as I guess they were going more arty than documentary style, just it felt a bit lacking to me.

Not that I could do any better Laughing

Yeah it was very arty, erring on "hippie" but not in the full sense of the word; more skater / surfer / rider / mountaineer - introspective which I quite like. Full blown hippie, for me, is mushrooms in the forest, psychedelic woolly jumpers, unwashed hair, dancing around old stone monuments on summer solstice with bongos and LSD. Not into that at all. Laughing
Looks like this might theme is the latest movie, hopefully not too much?? Are wait and see.

Did nothing for me. Waste of the HD button also.

Most disappointing film I've seen in recent years was All I can. Just thought there was too much of that crap and too much emperor's new clothes. I love a documentary, don't get me wrong, it doesn't have to be pure action. Steep was pretty good on that side. But I think there's a lot of warbling potential in going arthouse and it doesn't suit ski films.

Wins awards for:
- Most full frontal nudity.
- Worst euphemism for sex committed to film.
- Hoji killing pillow lines.
- "Skiing in summer"
- Herring.

Not as good as Into the Mind and possibly the most hipster ski movie made. Music by Rodriguez of Searching for Sugarman fame for example.

Just watched; as I thought, the hippie aspect was hard to 'manage'. Chapter one was good but Chapter 2; enter the hippies, a self sufficient droned out bunch with a leader who looks like he's been dug out of a 17th century grave, but still apparently 'exudes youth'. The over the top hippie 'vibe' / acid for breakfast (lunch and dinner) theme is annoying for me. Very daring / unique to use a 1st person narrative / presented as a story, much like a novel. Too daring to largely theme the story around hippies and expect the majority of snow sports enthusiasts / previous Sweetgrass production followers to appreciate that in my opinion. Clearly Nick Waggoner & co like the 'wacky backy' and that's ok if you like that sort of thing but you know this creation has a much harder / psychedelic influence.

As far as the skiing / riding goes; excellent and beautifully shot.

I enjoyed aspects of this movie but cringed during the rest. First production of theirs I won't buy a hard copy. This wasn't a surprise however; the trailer gives a good picture for theme.
