Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Odd Ski Areas

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Speaking of odd ski areas, I was in Cyrpus last weekend and was taken on a tour of the Troudos (sp?) mountains, including their one and only ski area (from their books about 200m vertical). C**ppy weather day mostly foggy, but having taken in a few monasteries and other stuff, seeing a ski lift and yellow piste basher, we turned a corner and actually found some snow, road was covered in it, our poor driver seemed gobsmached and a little concerned! Is this common for Cyprus at this time of year.

PS On the flight back flew over Zell am See and no snow on Smitthone (sp?), couldn't see Kaprun as on wrong side of plane.

Weird huh? You can ski in the morning and scuba dive in the afternoon...

There are loads of weird places. Morroco, Turkey, Lebanon, I think we discussed this here before.

One of the ski magazines has a section for skiing in strange places, one of the recent issues was Greece. If you get your timing right it sounds pretty good to me...

parlor, If you think about it you can probably ski in any country that has mountains - whether you'd want to is another matter of course. I've heard (first hand) of ski-ing by Donkey in peru, I know someone who worked in turkey, and have spoken to Lebanese who reckon their ski-ing is pretty goof. You can ski in Corsica and Sicily as well.

I've skied in Cyprus.
I was 6 at the time and it was brilliant. Think I'd find it pretty cr@p now though!

I've done that (just for a morning). Weird to be able to see the Med. from the pistes.

rob@rar.org.uk weird to see the Pacific ocean from the pistes, too. Ok, so it takes a bit of eye-squinting but you can just do it on a good day in NZ....
