Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Tignes & Val Thorens: Just Back from Summer Visit

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Been back at work Sad three days after a fantastic eight days in Tignes and two in Val Thorens. We did a mix of skiing, mountain biking and hiking, with the Grande Motte glacier in fantastic condition for late July.

There was one wet day but otherwise it was dry/warm/hot/sunny with temperatures up to a baked-alive 38C Shocked at lower altitude on one of our bike rides. Here are a few Tignes pics:

Great snow cover:

Not too busy:

Great views too:

2000 ft vertical to the bottom of the Vanoise Chair:

View towards Col du Palet from near Col des Ves Chair:

Back towards Tignes - near Col de Lavachet:

Singletrack above Tignes Les Boisses:

Val Claret singletrack, near Tufs Chair:

Great photos! Sound like a great mixture of activities. Glacier is looking good as well.
How much skiing can be done without using T Bars? I am not familiar with Tignes so can you use the gondola to lap the whole length of this glacier piste?

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Val Thorens isn't quite as picturesque, you need to get down to Les Menuire before grass appears.

However there is a great mountain bike route all the way from Deux Lacs down through Les Menuires and then down to St. Martin with a free bus back up the hill.

stephen buck: We did a full day's biking & a short walk at Val Thorens - took quite a few pics so can post some for you. We're camping/mountain biking up at Glentress at the mo - so will do that for you in the next couple of days, when we get back.

emwmarine: The bike route we did started at Villaranger (??) below St Martin, climbed to La Masse (gondola to middle station) & it was then great singletrack back to the car/start point.

Tom W: The 2000' vertical on offer last week was served by cable car and chairlift - no t bars required (though t bars were available for a couple of additional runs).

Very nice snap of Tignes' villages. I really ought to get out to the alps in the summer sometime.
