Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Haglofs is good stuff IMV but Noronna are a bit more cool these days. I have had a few Noronna things, and they have been decent but I have had more problems with them than, say, Patagonia gear

dulcamara, I think Haglofs stuff is still really well made, just it's a little harder to find around here. Their new flagship ski jacket was ridiculously long/gangster too.

As to packability of the Lofoten, I've used it/packing it for summer hiking just fine, but I can't really say if it's better than many other jackets for that.

Arcteryx runs long which suits me an, I had a sidewinder for 5 or 6 seasons and love it, finally started to give up the ghost after my little one washed and dried it on high and the seams started to go.. still use it for biking. Definitely the best jacket I have had. another option is Salomon (who i think now own arcteryx) have upped their top range a lot and we use their gear now for uniforms. Been holding up real well and cheap on the BASI deal...

I'll second the ME Changabang jacket. I've had mine at least 6 years now, still going strong. The wired hood is one of the best out there for helmet compatibility, it also rolls down into the collar when not in use. The arm pass pocket is useful, and the jacket is cut right for wearing a climbing harness. I'd buy another when I eventually have to.

Looks tidy, but they are retailing for the same price as a norrøna Lofoten...
