Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

How to replace look pivot brakes?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Ok, spyderjon help! I need to replace a brake and it is turning out to be right pain!
So far I have taken off the dildo bit from the old brake but I cannot seem to figure out how get the dildo bit onto the new brake.
How do you take off the forward pressure bits to screw in the new ones?
Thanks

Keep screwing the forward pressure bits till they fall off.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Raise the dildo as per left pic.
Unscrew the two forward pressure screws each side of the dildo to remove it as per the centre pic. There aren't any springs in there to go twang so don't worry.
Your replacement base/brake assembly comes as per the right pic however the black forward pressure screws are surplus to requirements as you already have them fitted to the dildo so unscrew them & set them aside for spares.
Now screw the dildo on to the arms of the new base/brake assembly.

Cheers spyderjon, we got it done in the end but it was a bit of a phaff - mostly because we thought we had to take the forward pressure screws out of their assembly too - since the replacement brakes came with them attached - and couldn't work out how to do that. In the end, we did exactly what you suggested here and set them aside as spares ....
though we still have no clue how we'd actually swap them out Puzzled

Thanks again for all your help spyderjon. Elston is winging his way to Hemel as I type with new brakes on new skis with new quiver killers ... to mash it all up in the park Madeye-Smiley
