Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Christopher Thompson tells a coroner's court of the death of his mother in Kitzbuhel in February 2012. She had snowboarded six times, was wearing a helmet, but ...

The type of fall she had was one that boarders of all levels of experience would suffer regularly, Christopher told Winchester Coroner's Court.

Most snowboarders do not put out their hands to break their fall for fear they will break their wrist or arm, and therefore often hit their head instead, he added.

Maybe we could establish the relative risk to the head from snowboarding -v- skiing. Similar concussion in skiing is, of course, hardly unknown.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Sad case but thankfully very rare - as they say something every snowboarder has done many times. Very difficult to break a backwards fall with the hands, my best attempt is to tuck chin in and try to roll off a shoulder. Problem is heelside slams happen really fast and it's hard to avoid a bit of whiplashing.

Very sad but as it said, accidental death
Heelside slams are also so fast you often don't get a chance to put a hand out let alone decide not to for fear of a breakage.
