Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Interesting comparison of Oz/NZ skiing costs

This article's pitched at Australians thinking of jetting over the Tasman Sea to ski in New Zealand (or maybe not, and sticking with home mountains) ... but it's interesting all the same and has some useful stats on lift ticket prices etc. ...

Of course, the major factor not covered by that article (about a week ago, just before the storm hit) is the phenomenal snow cover currently on NZ slopes. Plus, the more Alpine/Rockies quality of Kiwi ski terrain.

Meanwhile ... New Zealand's key north island ski fields - the two that lie on Mount Ruapehu (Whakapapa and Turoa) - are gearing up for their first day of the season on Saturday ...

A substantial business ...

Quote:
Mt Ruapehu's operators have budgeted for around 385,000 visitors this season, with a typical busy day seeing up to 5000 people on Turoa's slopes and 6000 at Whakapapa.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

If I move back to NZ I dread the day when I have to ski on the N/Island fields on the weekend. No joke - you spend more time waiting for the lifts that acutally skiing!
