Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Thoughts about 2013/14

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
hello

I am looking for some suggestions / advice for Feb 14 to North America.

Over the past few years have been to;

Aspen
Park City
Jackson Hole
Heavenly
Vail / Breckenridge
Whistler
Banff

Now looking for some suggestions for next year...we would be going for 10/11 nights..are happy to ski diamond and most double diamond runs and love glade ski-ing. happy to have a car and travel to a couple of resorts and we are more interested in dinner and wine than mad apres!! we also really enjoy hiring a skidoo and heading off for the day by ourselves.

We like to try some different each year so any advice would be welcome.

Thanks

10/11 days should be fine for Colorado

Arapahoe
Loveland
Keystone
Brenkenridge
Copper Mountain
Vail
Beaver creek

are on the same i70 trunk road in successive junctions (virtually one after the other). Plenty of single and double diamond black to enjoy.

Aspen's 4 resorts are doable if you stay at two places because Aspen is on its own and far away from the above like Winter Park or Steamboat.

Do you always ski in North America? Might I point out, if you don't, that we have bigger mountains over here in the Alps (and much more extensive lift accessed or partly lift accessed skiing possibilities).

If looking at these, throw Red in as suggested and also Whitewater, as the new lift they put in opens up plenty more terrain.

Road trip for you around BC Madeye-Smiley Maybe tight for you for 11 days, but we did more in 13.

As you mentioned Heavenly, keep in mind there's a lot more options around Lake Tahoe. One advantage of Tahoe for a snowsports break is that winter is low season in Tahoe - yes it can get fairly busy in town, but nothing remotely like summer! This can mean value for money over areas where winter is very much peak season.

If you base yourself in South Lake obviously you have Heavenly right on your door steep, but it's possible to get to several other areas without driving - so you can sleep on the way back or have a 'refreshment' or two! Shuttles run to Kirkwood and Sierra at Tahoe by the South Shore and at the Northern end of the lake to Northstar and Squaw / Alpine . A network of free shuttles run around various parts of South Lake Tahoe to the four Heavenly base areas as well.

One thing if considering the US is what resorts your aiming for, it might be worth having a look at the various Vail Resorts Epic Pass season ticket offerings. For 10 or 11 days skiing these could offer substantial savings over day tickets even if you get in a couple of days at non Vail resorts. Handed over $289 in the Kirkwood pass office mid-April for a Tahoe Value Pass for next season! Cool
