Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I always liked his style on the WC circuit which he's now taken to freeride terrain. There's some other good vids on that site. And all done wearing farty Spyder gear Shocked

Skied with him - lovely guy and relatively tiny for a downhiller. Neat approach to skiing bumps - just straightline them. Told me to MTFU. Probably wouldn't pass BASI on that basis Thought he dislocated his shoulder this year in qualifying laps on the his Banzai Silver Belt so for the first time the overall title of his own event went to a competitor.

Still can't believe he's a pro I'm so much better than him.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

spyderjon, Nice find. I think he's really refreshing in the ski movies that TGR produce. Great to see him post loads of videos of him at his local hill. Probably a clause in his contract if he's sponsored by them. Another Nobis that will take big mountain skiing to the next level.

fatbob, He comes across on film and interviews as a Cowboy The FU sort of guy. He seems to relish what he's doing everyday. Like other pro international athletes that have made the jump to freeride/BM skiing, he understands the work entailed as a result of being sponsored by huge ski company.

The likes of Seth M and Tanner H that have gone through the ski bum route just don't get it. The public and media relations have to be tip top and you'll spend more time doing that than skiing.......... but we (royal) are paying there wages and very healthy ones at that.
I just finished watching 'The Ordinary Skier' - the Oakley biopic about Seth M. It follows him to Chamonix. He was very humble about the place, which was great but boy did he moan about having to do interviews, filming and the skier/sponsor relationship. I just don't get these guys!!! He remarked that "this sort of skiing (Chamonix steeps) was refreshing because it allowed him to forget about the other sh*t"(sponsor/filming responsibilities). One of his sponsors was funding his trip there!!!! You would never have heard the likes of Shane McConkey something like that. All these ski pros have found away of getting really well paid for doing something they love. They should never utter a negative word about the circus that is performing for us in ski porn movies.

spyderjon, Sorry for high jacking your thread mate but had to get that off my chest as I've just finished watching the new TGR and Oakley flicks....... and when I saw your post about Daron Rahlves I thought I'd post my ramblings.

P.S I'm kicking my friends back bottom to get him to post the skis ASAP.

Buddy1664, I understand the SM angle - it must be nice even given the exposure angle to sometimes just get out and ski without hitting a mark or presenting the 100% smiley face. Totally different personality from Shane. Fortunately GoPro and Contour enable these guys to fulfill commitments even without the full filmcrew and it keeps everyone happy. Resort ambassadors are a bit deal in the US. Vail paid a shedload to get Shaun White to officially base himself at Northstar and "train" (though I have my doubts over how often he was in in plush provided condo).

Rahlves has a pretty big portfolio post racing running his Banzai Tour and other projects for NBC, Red Bull, TGR, Sugar Bowl. But then he has stood at the very top of the sport on the major DH podiums and seems pretty commercially savvy and connected. He's been over the St Anton Red Bull Hut Race a couple of times and I wonder if he has half an eye on a Banzai format for Europe (all mountain skiercross).
