Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Morzine - local knowledge, location advice please

Looking at possible summer accommodation in and around Morzine.

One possibility is out on the Route de la Manche, halfway towards Nyon I think. I don't know this side of Morzine at all, I am more familiar with the side out towards Montriond.

I have some recollection of posts on here about this side of Morzine being in the shade and for a summer holiday this is a concern as we will want to be out on the terrace/garden.

From what I can work out the property is on the Avoriaz side of the road and the terrace seems to face the road.

I'd be very grateful for any input, thanks Very Happy

You should try Chatel... better than Morzine in my opinion - But I don't understand what the fuss is about Morzine.

If you stay in Chatel you'll get the Sun ALLLLLLL day if you stay along the Mountain (not down by Linga etc) plus it's cheaper than Morzine, because it's quieter!

Insiders, thanks for that. I know Chatel well and would be very happy staying there again. Unfortunately the swimming pool in Chatel is closed for this summer for refurb. We have a young child and are planning an extended stay and there is possibly more to do with a child on the Morzine/LG side. I've not ruled out Chatel but the swimming pool thing is a bit of a niggle.

sarah, "Insiders" has made 2 posts, both of which unconsitionally suggesting Chatel over Morzine.

I smell troll.

Valley de la Manche can be very sunny but it all depends on your exact location. Ask the proprietors for a proper address and I am pretty sure Ou can find a net based simulator that will show where the sun willbe when you are there.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

It's just a shame that I've been accused of being a Troll, Just because I visit a certain resort a lot.

I've not spammed or promoted any one or any company or done anything 'Trollish' of the sort... I thought it'd be ok to share the love, I thought that's what Forums are for - to share your knowledge and experience of certain places...

Tell me if this is wrong or if it's not ok, then maybe we should ask everyone to never post more than once about somewhere they've been and they enjoy going... seems only fair.

Insiders, sorry but your only two posts on the forum came across rather anti-Morzine. Nothing wrong with liking and promoting a favourite resort - I know Les Gets well and would prefer it to Morzine but Sarah is going to Morzine (a good choice and she probably needs a break from Chatel wink ) so it would be unhelpful of me to bang on about Les Gets.

and Sarah, I'm assuming, is a grown woman who can answer for herself. As she did, very nicely, and very politely... If you make snap judgements like this I feel nothing but sorry for you.

Who cares if my 2 posts were about 1 place, I find it quite annoying that i'm having to justify myself like this... maybe I don't have as much time as you to have an input on every post that is made and keep track of what everyone says...

wwwoooooowwwwww, this thread has just awesome amounts of information for Sarah to digest....

From memory, I would think the Avoriaz side of the road at Nyon would face the morning sun, but not the evening sun. Locals will be able to testify, or just get the exact location and work it out based on which slope facing you have, although this isnt fool proof!

An easier way would be to ask the vendor for pictures of the terrace. I would think if the terrace got any sun, they would have a picture of it, then work out what time of day and the view/impending mountain shadows there is!

As for Nyon, in winter it would certainly be great to stay there, as it has great access away from Pleney, and its not too far from town. Cant imagine summer being any different.

Of course if you want a sunny terrace Ill try to rent you our place in Le Biot (much nicer than Chalet, LG or Morzine) after we get it this month Wink

(where is the troll smiley??)
