Poster: A snowHead

What price & how do you get one?
I bought a discounted (I paid 19€) Carte Neige with my Carte Zen in the past two years, but do not need a Carte Zen for next season. Looking through some old threads some far higher prices have been quoted.
Crazy thing is that it might be cheaper to buy a Carte Zen + Carte Neige for 48€, even though I would not use the Carte Zen in 2014 !

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

If you are not skiing on your Zen card you are not covered by the insurance you get with it, you may be able to blag it, assuming Carte Neige wouldn't check, just assume that you used your Zen. Bit of a risk though.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

AndrewsPeppers, carte Zen is only a vehicle for your lift pass (as far as I can see) and only gives you Carre NOT Carte Neige cover. I.e. Only on days that you have a lift pass for Les Arcs.

Oyster Card for a number of ski resorts. Works on Paradiski, Espace Killy, the places along the road like La Ros and St Foy (you have to get a day pass at the office) and some others (Serre Chevalier, Flaine). You only pay for days that you ski. Charges are a discount on the normal daily rate plus some specials e.g. 9th & 14th day are €1. You pay monthly in arrears. Can work out a decent way to have a lift pass if you are out skiing for a a fair bit. They say it is worth it if you ski something like 8 - 18 days per year (I think). I found it was better than that, because a late season play up at Val d'Isere would not be covered on a weekly or season co-operative deal between resorts - that runs out mid-April (I am mainly Paradiski).

MogulMonkey, As jamesgurney says it has its place. One word of caution. Kids pay adults prices. We have used it for the last 2 years for us as adults but can't see it being economical if you have kids.

Does anyone have an answer to my original question - cost of annual Carte Neige for Les Arcs, and how to get one?

AndrewsPeppers, les arcs.net says 40-60 euros IIRC. why not email the les arcs tourist information and ask?

AndrewsPeppers, I now buy mine online. Different resorts have different prices, depending on how much of the fee is given to the local ski race club (AIUI). Never bought one in Les Arcs, but used to get them in Tignes from the Tourist Office in Le Lac.

AndrewsPeppers, if you are UK resident you may find snowcard or equivalent a better bet.

AndrewsPeppers, Just checked, & I paid 60euros for a season carte neige to go with the season paradiski pass. But I bought it before 1st Dec - they have cheaper deals if you buy early.
