North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un has announced that a "world-class ski resort" is being built in the north-east of the country. He has urged workers (the Korean People's Army) to complete construction of the resort by start of the next ski season. Is it a coincidence that South Korea will be hosting the Winter Olympics in 2018?...According to the the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), the resort will have 110 km of ski runs, a hotel, heliport and cable cars.

Worryingly it occurs to me that you'd do well as a speechwriter for Alex Salmond, just substitute North Koreans for 'Scottish Nationalists' and 'Imperialists' for 'English' and you'll have a job rightaway!

This is amazing. I can't help but wonder who, in North Korea, will be going on a skiing holiday? It's not a country best known for its disposable income. Or perhaps their plan is to train up a team of winter Olympians in time for the 2018 Winter Games in an attempt to show up their great rival to the south.
