Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski scotland end of May

 Poster: A snowHead

We have a rare weekend off together the second bank holiday weekend in May 24th-27th. Realistically whats the chance of reasonable skiing in Scotland that weekend? Probably unlikely, but thought I'd ask those in the know.

Not sure of any lift served skiing, but there will still be plenty of touring opportunities. Cairngorm may still have a few lifts running, depends on the weather over the next few weeks. If it stays cold them anything is possible!!!

At the moment the weather forecast models can not agree on the solution to the end of the new week... However there have been repeated runs showing high pressure sitting over Highland Scotland in the extended outlook, such a scenario could lead to only a slow spring melt, with night frosts and little wind. However the Atlantic could wind up and let rip with depression after depression and raging zonality with long fetch South Westerlies. Afraid we just have to wait and see.

As for operations, CairnGorm Mountain continues to be open daily for snowsports weather permitting, and this coming week Tuesday is looking very promising for a slide with a ridge of high pressure building in. Snow showers have been quite frequent over Western mountains this evening, will spread East tomorrow. Glencoe is closed mid-week (except the Access Chair), but will re-open for Snowsports for the bank holiday weekend on Saturday 4th May.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thanks for that guys.

I'm praying that it is either freezing & snowing (hello Cairngorm!) or absolutely boiling hot (hello South Coast of England!)...... its the horrible and probably inevitable inbetween weather that I really don't want.
