Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Yesterday was bitter, today seemd very nice until you got up to the Cretes - vile wind. Aparently it got better in the afternoon. No time for photos, sorry.

easiski, good to meet you and the other snowHead's in LDA Friday. We were taken to La Grave by Odrin (not sure of the spelling) from the European Ski School, name came back to me eventually.

Cheers for the sterling work with my brother and mate.

Today was warm and sunny. the Cretes was in good condition and the Valentin at about 14.00 was firm at the top, very nice in the middle and very heavy slush at the bottom. Nursery slopes very slushy late on; here's a pic of the Vikings at around 17.00

Looks a bit on the slooshy side! Will they still be using those slopes in April, or will the newbies be up on the glacier by then, do you think?

(perhaps there is another area.)

Chris Bish, there are several!, however it was fine in the morning, and in the less skied spots was OK in the pm too. A long way from being unskiable yet. Very Happy Very Happy

Charlotte, I guess you know what I'm thinking... I want to visit my students who are skiing and see how they are getting on. Most of them will be on their second week. I'm hoping not to have to come down to the bottom of the resort to meet up with them, especially since I don't fancy Valentin. (and I doubt if it fancies me much either!) Going up to ythe glacier, now. That is more to my taste. Any thoughts on where second-weekers are likely to be?

Chris Bish, they could be anywhere! You'll just have to ask the ESF! However, if they run true to form they won't be skiing on any learning slopes but just being dragged around the mountain - the school groups really don't get much instruction - baby sitting is the order of the day. Shocked Which company are they/you coming with?

Some pictures from my trip to benefit from easiski's expertise last weekend - 3.5 days skiing in great weather and perfectly excellent snow. The only bare bits I could find in the entire area were at the 1650 end of the village at the very bottom of the Diable.

Big thanks to easiski for top notch instruction (and hospitality!). She rapidly spotted and highlighted the multiple problems in the fundamentals of my skiing and provided me with the tools in drills or awareness to set about correcting them. These weaknesses are well ironed in, but I certainly got the feeling that under easiski's keen eye and expert direction, an improvement would evolve. Can't wait to get some more practice in! snowHead

Good to meet rich and bro and pal, Pollyperks and Lizzard too! Very Happy

Ray Zorro, sorry Blush had hit submit instead of preview!

slikedges, Wonderful photos - saves me downloading one today - not very interesting anyway, and it's late and I'm tired! (and I want to watch the champion hurdle).

Very warm day, sunny all day and boiling hot in the village in the afternoon - thank goodness my nervous ladies are now good enough to go a little way up the mountain tomorrow! More sunshine and warm temps forecast and then snow all next week - we'll see. Very Happy

aaronski, the weather is just wonderful here at the moment, as is the snow! I skied right down from the top first thing this morning with Rod my (very patient!!) instructor, just us two on the perfect slopes for a lot of the time... and he has fixed most of my problems, too. V happy Very Happy Very Happy

easiski, are we still on for that snowheads drink one night or have I missed it?

jonm, I haven't organised it yet, but it would have to be Friday! Debbi is keen -where are you staying? (sorry I forgot). Debbi is staying at the Venosc end - my over 50's (whoa re actualy all under or 50) are at the bottom of the Viking nursery sklopes. I'm sure Pollyperks will be up for it too.

Very hot today - not even warm - deffo hot Very pleasant on the glacier and hrrific on the nursery slopes - sheet ice int he morning and knee deep slush in the afternoon. Above 2000m though it all seems to be fine. Sorry, forgot to take photo today, will try to do better tomorrow.

Nick L, Takining Caroline to the glacier to ski tomorrow - sadly the ski buddy is going home, but two day is deffo better than none! Very Happy Very Happy

Nick L, Over 60????? There are only two who are actually 50! Laughing Laughing Laughing Seriously, the glacier has such nice snow at the moment and there are no edges so it's the obvious choice... Sadly Caroline's ski buddy Julie won't be joining us today - I think she's making a mistake going skiing with her husband and friends, but there you are. She could well end up getting terrified and never skiing again.

very warm and sunny again. Several of the group have been feeling the effects of the sun and have ducked out of one or two days skiing. I tried to take a pic but the batteries were too weak - will put new ones in and try again tomorrow. Glacier lovely, skied all the way down via breche (all the quiet alternatives) and then goulet du Grand Nord. Snow fine all the way to the Cretes. Big Q for the eggs, so went to Belle Etoile, and while it was possible to ski across the village slopes ...... puddles and lots of mud were involved. Very Happy Anyway, we did get right across resort, but if the colder weather and snow arrive as planned I hope they're in time to restore the very lowest slopes. Diable looks dodgy (don't know if it's officially open, but lots of dark patches are now apparent. Sad

jonm, then it's easy - come to the terrace of the Les melezes (just down the nursery slope from you at around 4pm - we'll be there - we're there every day after skiing about then. I will text Debbi. I've been putting her off waiting to hear from you and Zebedzee! Shocked

Well, sad because Debbi went home today, and as I wa waiting for eveyone else to contact me so we could have a "mass meet", I missed her as well - really sorry Debbi. Crying or Very sad

It was another hot, sunny day today (getting boring), really good skiing everywhere except on the very lowest slopes - bottom of Valentin was pretty vile at 16.00, but what do you expect? Otherwise all good. Gours was very nice at around 15.30. Very Happy I finally got some pics so here they are: T Rex in the Grotte de Glace; Wendy and Richard on La Mura; "Moonland" lovely flat off piste area just off the Jandri
