Sorry to break the clothing thread but how long will it take to drive to ADH from LDA. Wouldn't mind a day trip at easter

garethjomo, I wanna do the same. Heard it was about an hour? sure someone else can be mroe precise though. And is it true you can use the LDA lift pass at ADH?
|
|
|
|
|
|
Apparently you can use it for one day?!? Any truth in this?

While we stuck to LDA yes you can and there is a bus that will take you there or a helicopter ride I believe. Charlotte will enlighten when she arrives I'm sure.

beachlou, I reckon the quickest way might be to drive to from ADH to Venosc and take the cable car up from there. That would avoid all the LDA hairpins as well. I won't be arguing if Lizzard or easiski disagree though...

Ray Zorro, Agree absolutely. I always think it takes 1.25 hours to drive, but everyone tells me it's only an hour! I wouldn't be wanting to race up that ADH road myself.. ADH/LDA passes give you 1 or 2 days in the other resort also SC and (bizzarely) Puy St Vincent.
cathy, Thatls the view from my balcony. Argenterre was very excited to actually see those silver birches!
Horrid, cold cloudy and sometimes foggy day today. Nice snow on the Cretes, vile on the chemin and even worse on the bottom of the Valentin at the end of the day.
jonm, We must meet up for a coffee/beer anyway! Sorry.
Leis, Which bit do you mean about the last corner? the place by the Fee lift, the view across the valley from the path just after that, or the view from the steep bit just before that?
Scarpa, If not taken in LDA the romper suits really don't count on this thread!

Lizzard, It's too far to go IMV though for a day's skiing out of the 6 you might have on your holiday!
Any other Snowheads here but not declared: We'll be meeting at the Lutins bar at 17.30 apres ski tonight.

NOt so bad on a season pass though I suppose, although the most bizzare must be the 6 days in Courmayeur you got with your Serre Che season pass this winter. We did consider using a few of them, but never found any suitable short-term accommodation.

garethjomo, I took the helicopter ride with my son & nephew - return approx £30/40 per head - great fun for 2/3 mins. My sister and daughter went by bus 8E ish each 1.5 hours each way - not so much fun but good price!!

easiski, Those silver birches are a L2A landmark I suspect. Many of us watched and waited through the summer and Autumn waiting for the snows to arrive.
It should be a ritual for all to try and identify them when they are returning to the village from skiing - it's rather like meeting a pen pal - you know what they should look like but in the flesh gives it some meaning! So go on all of you going to L2A, spot the silver birches - They're quite distinctive!

Agenterre, like you I have visited the hallowed birches. It's always a delight to see them on here because for easiski to be taking pics out of her window it usually means snow, snow, snow !!

FSI, Any snowheads visiting LDa are more than welcome to let me know and we can organise a meet. there are usually at least 2 most weeks! My mobile number is on my website, and if you forget my fliers are in the tourist office!
A lovely day today, sunny and cool. Beautiful snow all the way up from the Cretes although I can't say the same for the snow on the way down from there. We went to Signal, bottom of Echines des chevres (very nice), down one of the canyons, bottom of Mura, off onto Moonland and then continued down the piste to 2,600 and Goulet du Grand Nord down to the Cretes again. Nothing but lovely snow everywhere. the off piste snow above 2,400m look fab - powder on a firm crust base by the look of it, but I didn't ski it. the Chemin de Demoiselles is absolutely vile and will undoubtedly be closed again tomorrow. Some of the Pisteurs were shovelling snow onto it from the banks, but it won't do the trick for more than an hour. I preferred the rather difficult snow on the last part of Posettes to finishing the Chemin (which was my intention).
I took a photo, but I've had the same problem with losing it as before, and as before I deleted it prior to editing it - so, very sorry ..... (my camera downloads every photo in memory every tme, so I have to delete as I go along or constantly download the same photo!)

easiski, thanks for the update - it sounds great. We'll be there from tomorrow afternoon and a snowheads meet one evening sounds like an excellent idea to me. I'm just hoping my dodgy knee will last the week...
