During the day it was 8 degrees less cold than yesterday.
The sun was tempered by high thin clouds. Hardly no wind and good pistes.
There are a lot more skiers and boarder on the pistes. Waiting time at the main lifts not more than 5 minutes.
The first stage of cabinelift Bruyeres was during the whole day out of order caused by technical problems.

This was the fifth day in a row with beautiful sunny weather.
In the valleys you could see a blanket of clouds. It was colder then the days before and at the tops there was some wind.
According to the weatherforecast the coming two days will be sunny, but colder. Starting on Wednesday and the following 3 or 4 days there is a chance for fresh snow.
With lower temperatures the pistes, that were last covered with snow on December 24th, can stand until that moment.

Again a sunny day with a cloudless blue sky.
Temperature a few degrees below zero and no wind at all.
The pistes are becoming more and more packed with hard snow and sometimes ice.
On the steeper slopes you have to search for some snow to make your turns savely.
There many people on the piste, allthough it is the first week of January.
A sunny, cold day with some small clouds.
Minus 7 degrees at 3000 meter and a light breeze.
Piste conditions are unchanged, hard packed snow and some ice.
The weather is changing now. Today it was partly clouded and we have higher temperatures.
A period of 8 days with blue skies will end now. The next days will bring some new snow.
And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

It was clouded today with a temperature around zero degrees at 2000 m.
In the afternoon there was a mixture of light rain and snow.
In the evening Russian Christmas was celibrated with firedancers and the arrival of Ded Moroz, the Christmas men and
his lady Snegourochka.
So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

The weather is not bad for skiing. The sky is covered with clouds for 80-90%, but the temperature is far too high.
Over 2500 meter there is a little fresh snow. The number of brown patches on the lower pistes is increasing.
The snow on the pistes is like fondant, which you normally expect during springtime.
The farmers here are joking and they see next week we can bring our goats and cows outside.
Under this conditions you can clearly see the effect of roof isolation. On the roof of the old buildings all snow has been disappeared.
The new buildings still have snow on the top.
During the whole day the sun was shining. At the end of the day some thin high clouds tried to cover the sun.
The temperature is still too high. At 3000 m -2 and at 2000 +4 degrees.
On the picture you see the Mount Blanc at a distance of about 55 km.
The old people of the Savoie say: if there is a cloud around the summit of the Mont Blanc then snow will come ...
So wait and see.
Loved these pictures, thank you. I'm coming to les menuires at the end of jan (yay , have never been here bofore. Last year i ruptured my acl, (skiing la clusaz) so skiing is going to have to be gentle for me, we're staying in the les buyeres region, i wonder if you could tell me the easiest blue runs so i can gently break myself in once again, i'd like to avoid nursery slopes and scary super fast kiddies wink... regards & thanks. Oh also, if you have a picture of the piste/lifts near les bruyeres, that would be delightfully appreciated. regards katie

I toke this picture from the place where you arrive with the funitel Bouquetin.
Some days, like this Sunday, you have to forget as soon as possible.
All gray, no visibility, windy and clouds coming down to 2500 meter.
At the end of the day the temperature dropped below zero and it started to snow.
On the pistes a lot of ice, rocks and brown patches.
What a difference with yesterday.
Fresh snow and in the afternoon sunshine.
All the brown patches are covered with 10 cm snow.
The conditions of the pistes are back on an acceptabel level.
Off-pistes also better then before and limited avalanche risk.
Around midday the temperature was around freezing point.
The start of the day was much promising.
However, after 10 o'clock the sun disappeared behind the clouds and during the whole day it was snowing from time to time.
Only light snowfall and at the end of the day the layer was about 5 cm thick.

In the morning sunshine and in the afternoon the visibility went and the first snowflakes began to fall.
Good snow conditions everywhere since the last snowfall of yesterday.
Today at several places there were big signs with "avalanche danger".
Perhaps this had to do with the fatal accident in Val d'Isere. Yesterday morning 4 skiers were killed in a avalanche off-piste on the slopes of the Grand Vallon.
A well-known off-piste area that is known as relative safe.
Nice sunny day with some thin high clouds. It is much too warm for January. At 3000 m during midday +4 degrees.
This weather permits you to picnic by the piste or eat on restaurant terraces and enjoy the sun.
Most pistes have hard packed snow with a lot of loose snow, but overall the skiing conditons are good.
So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

123_456, Yes! Left Villarenger this morning, now back in UK! Had a good week - lovely weather as we left but more snow obviously needed before too long. Are you out in the 3V all season? I love your photos!
You know it makes sense.

Yesterday it feeled like a day in April and today like a day in May.
A cloudless deep blue sky and temperatures far above zero degrees.
It is remarkable how good the snow on the pistes can stand this conditions.
The rocks underneath the pistes must be very cold to keep the piste so well.
During lunchtime everybody was sitting on the pistes enjoying their meal and the sunshine.
Tomorrow this high temperatures will go down, but the snowforecast is still unclear.
Again a beautiful day, a little colder (or less warm) and light winds from the south.
Most of the higher pistes are in a relative good condition and skiing there is still a pleasure.
It was 8 degrees colder then yesterday. Sunshine above 2000 meter and big clouds in the valleys.
Moderate winds and the winter is back. Will snow follow ?
Mist piste are covered with a thin layer of hard packed snow or ice.
The situation is far from ideal and new snow is urgently requested.
Yesterday night some short lasting light snowfall. Not more then 1-2 cm fresh snow.
Glacial times! Today between -10 and -15 degrees on the piste with moderate winds.
In the morning sunshine with clear blue sky. In the afternoon cloudy and again intermittent light snowfall.
In Val Thorens the Bordeaux winefarmers gave short courses on tasting wine.
Not a easy job to serve the red wine at room temperature with snow and temperatures of -10 degrees.
It was terrible cold today. Moderate winds and temperatures between -10 and -15 degrees.
A perfect blue sky and in the afternoon some clouds in the south.
Yesterday night it snowed for a short time and this brought between 5-10 cm fresh snow.
The conditions on the pistes have been improved with this new snow.

Still low temperatures, but not so cold as yesterday.
Clear blue sky and sunshine. Good snow on the contest piste in VT, which was open for ordinary skiers.
At the end of the day the funitel Bouquetin broke down. Alternative way to go to Les Menuires and Meribel/Motaret was the chairlift 3-Vallees 2 or boulevard Cumin.
On the piste Mont de la Chambre it was snowing at 16.30. All snowcanons were producing artifial snow.
