My new passport arrived on Monday, 27 March, after a series of notifications giving me the progress of my application and the passport through the system. So a new passport in just 10 days. I was impressed.

Mrs Golf's came yesterday and I got her to check the timeline. Nine days including a Sat/Sun. Renewals seem quick and routine (mine was similar), maybe different for first issues or long lapses.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

For anyone curious, just renewed my son's passport and took under 2 weeks.

I'm almost looking forward to having to renew my passport, next year. Then I won't have to worry about it - the next one will see me out.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@rungsp, I saw that article with its cogent analysis of the problem by someone prevented from travelling due to falling foul of new rules: "all because a load of wankers voted for Brexit".

A democratic vote was taken, the result was what it was, deal with it and move on or will you still be carping on and being abusive about people in yet more years to come? Cuz that will be a lot of years spent being angry to what affect?!

@Cinsha, yebbut it was an advisory vote...we didn't have to go down that road. I'll never forgive leavers..including my husband...but I am more sanguine about it now

Who said it was going to be advisory? It was a referendum and they are binding.
The fact that our cretinous negotiating team couldn't (wouldn't?) even require reciprocity on maximum stays (i.e. 90/180 for us there and a straight six months for them here) shows what could have been negotiated with good faith on both sides.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

@holidayloverxx, I agree but I can’t think there’s much point arguing about it now. All of us need to make the best of a bad situation.

You know it makes sense.

I got my renewed passport a couple of days ago. It took 30 days. I first took a very careful selfie following all the rules. When I downloaded it, the site indicated cautiously that the photo looked "good", but this was no guarantee it would pass. Of course it failed a few days later. This probably wasted a week, so worth the modest hassle and cost of getting it done at a pre-approved high street place if you can.
